Kyle Walker and former Manchester City set-piece coach, Nicolas Jover, sparked the dramatic tunnel bust-up at the end of the fircely contested top four Premier League game.
Kyle Walker was seen in a viral video online where he and Erling Haaland were walking off the field after Gabriel Martinelli’s 86th-minute goal ruined their day.
The loss saw City get their second successive league defeat and also their first Premier League loss to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal since 2018.
The set-piece coach was seen offering Man City defender Walker a handshake but the Englishman waved it off and he departed the pitch.
Kyle Walker angrily dismissed the handshake offered by the set-piece coach which the specialist didn’t bite his tongue over.
Kyle Walker immediately took hold of what the German-born Frenchman said and decided to square up to him, with Erling Haaland backing him up.
A minor face-to-face scuffle ensued as members of both teams intervened but Walker was clearly in an angry mood as he exited the pitch.
Erling Haaland, Manchester City’s record-breaking striker, also had to be held back before eventually being led down the tunnel.
Mikel Arteta said he “didn’t see” what sparked the incident between Kyle Walker and Jover, with City boss Pep Guardiola refusing to be drawn into it.
“I know what happened, but I don’t want to say anything,” Mikel Arteta revealed. “They [Arsenal] know it.”
Berlin-born Jover, 41, started his career in the game as a video analyst at French club Montpellier and afterward served in a similar role for the Croatia national team.
He moved to England in July 2016 to work as an assistant coach to Dean Smith at Brentford and also continued with Thomas Frank for the Bees.
Kyle Walker and City’s coach Guardiola noticed his talent and in 2019, he joined the Spaniard and his coaching staff to work on set-pieces.
Jover worked in his first few months with Mikel Arteta while at Etihad Stadium before he left to oversee the manager role at Arsenal.
