Kevin De Bruyne is unarguably one of the most complete players in the world. The Belgium international has the ability to make assists, score goals, dribble, run with the ball, position himself accurately, and a fair tackling and aerial duels abilities. The Manchester City star can play as a midfielder, attacking midfielder and right-winger.

No wonder he has continuously remained one of the most important players in Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City team that won the Premier League title in two conservative seasons.

Before he became such an important player in the Premier League, De Bruyne started his race to stardom at Genk, a Belgian Pro League club. After helping the club to win the 2010–11 Belgian Pro League title, he joined Premier League club, Chelsea.

At Chelsea, De Bruyne couldn’t hold his own. He only managed to play 9 times and scored only a goal. In between his time at the club, he spent a season-long loan at a German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.

The 28-year-old City star performed very well at the German club, scoring 10 goals and made 10 assists in 34 appearances in all competitions.

Another German club, Wolfsburg, was impressed with his performance and had to be given a permanent deal at the club worth £18 million in 2014. At the club, he performed very well too, scoring 37 goals and making 20 assists in 73 appearances in all competitions.

This was the point Manchester City could do anything to bring the Belgian back to the Premier League. After a series of talks, Wolfsburg agreed to sell him to Manchester City for £54 million in 2015 after spending just a season at Wolfsburg.

De Bruyne had a very fair first season in Manchester City. In the 2015-2016 season, the Belgian attacking midfielder scored 10 goals and made 9 assists in 35 appearances in all competitions. In the 2016-2017 season at the club, he scored 7 goals and made 18 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions.

Pep Guardiola has not featured him in the FA Cup before the coronavirus pandemic halted football.
