Super Eagles International Kelechi Iheanacho is set to join seven-time Europa League winner Sevilla on a permanent deal after he was released by Leicester City.
According to sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, the attacker is set to travel to Spain to have a medical on either Tuesday, June 30, or Wednesday, June 31.
Ipswich Town, West Ham United, and Aston Villa were all interested in signing the player, believing he would prefer to stay in England than move somewhere.
However, he sees the Spanish La Liga as the next place for him to prove himself as a world-class player. Iheanacho will be joining his Nigerian teammate Chidera Ejuke at Sevilla.
Chidera Ejuke joined Sevilla as a free agent from Russian giant CSKA Moscow in July 2024. Ejuke is expected to help Iheanacho settle well in the new environment.
Iheanacho, who spent seven years at Leicester City, rejected multiple new contract offers to facilitate a move away from the club.
