Since reports have been confirming an agreement between Chelsea and Bundesliga club, Bayer Leverkusen for the signature of midfielder, Kai Havertz, former Bundesliga striker Jan Aage Fjortoft expects the Blues to confirm the deal next week.

The highly-rated midfielder has been rewarded with a further call up to the German national team for his performance in the 2019-20 season. He is also keen to make the switch to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard had brought former RB Leipzig striker, Timo Werner, and Ajax winger, Hakim Ziyech to Stamford Bridge last month. The Blues showed their intent of reinforcement by activating the £50million purchase of Leicester left-back, Ben Chilwell, and completed the deal on Wednesday.

Blues likely to announce the arrival of Thiago Silva and Kai Havertz together

After announcing the signing of Nice former center-back, Malang Sarr on a free transfer, Blues are likely to push for Havert’s deal by the weekend.

However, former Bundesliga hitman Fjortoft is of the view that the Stamford Bridge outfit will confirm his arrival next week after the completion of medicals.

According to Fjortoft, the delay in the deal is due to Bayer Leverkusen’s search for a replacement. The German might be replaced with AS Roma forward Patrik Schick, who impressed on loan at RB Leipzig.

“Lot of you ask when the two clubs will confirm the deal. I think it could be next week.

“As Leverkusen are working to get Patrik Schick from Roma (on loan in Leipzig this season) as a replacement. That could happen next week.

“Understand this [is] the reason for the delay”, Fjortoft wrote on Twitter.

Bayer Leverkusen had initially told Chelsea that the changed football landscape due to the COVID-19 pandemic will not affect Havertz’s price and there will be no discounts offered for him. This means that the Blues will have to dig deep into their coffers to buy the Germany midfielder.

The 21-year-old rose to the senior rank in Bayer Leverkusen from the team’s academy he joined in 2010 and has never played for another club at the senior level.

How munch will Havertz earn at Chelsea?

The Sun reports that Havertz will earn £310,000 a week at Chelsea. This will make the Germany international to be the fourth-highest earner in the Premier League behind David de Gea, Mesut Ozil and Kevin De Bruyne.

According to reports, the club will pay up to £90m for Havertz, who had previously been linked with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Chelsea will pay 90 million pounds for Havertz

If Chelsea is going to pay the stated amount, it means that they will shatter their existing wage structure to land the 21-year-old. No player in their squad currently earning more than £200,000 per week.
