Kai Havertz has expressed that winning the UEFA Champions League title at Arsenal would mean a lot more to him than the success he enjoyed in the competition during his spell at Chelsea.

Havertz scored the crucial goal for the Blues in the final against Manchester City in 2021, helping the Stamford Bridge side claim the title for the 2nd time in their history.

Despite scoring that monumental goal, Kai Havertz had an underwhelming spell at Chelsea, as he failed to meet up to the lofty expectations placed on him.

Due to his wishy-washy display at Chelsea, he was sold to Arsenal for a fee of €75 million in the summer of 2023.

Havertz seems to have found the perfect environment in North London, with the Germany international being one of the first names on Mikel Arteta’s XI.

Before their UEFA Champions League 2-0 home win over Manchester City, Kai Havertz gave his thoughts on how he has fared thus far in the continental European club competition.

Kai Havertz Reflects On Winning The UEFA Champions League At Chelsea

The former Bayern Leverkusen man shared that his Champions League triumph with Chelsea is something that is always going to be at the back of his mind.

He said: “It was a good moment for me in my career and something that I’m always going to think about.”

Kai Havertz On What It Would Mean To Him If He Helps Arsenal Win The UEFA Champions League

The 25-year-old added that it would be “nicer” if he could help Arsenal win the UEFA Champions League title, also sharing that “it would mean a lot more.”

Arsenal have never won the UEFA Champions League since the club was founded in 1886, with the closest they have come being a runner up finish in the competition in 2006.

The Gunners were beaten by Barcelona 2-1 at the Stade de France, courtesy of a quick-fire double in the second half from Samuel Eto’o and Juliano Belletti after Arsenal had gone in front in the first period through Sol Campbell.

Kai Havertz Shares His Thoughts On Playing For Arsenal

Havertz further made it known that he is happy at Arsenal and claimed that his “development has been quite good”.

He said: “The journey is good for sure. It’s my second year and I’m very happy to be here.

“My development has been quite good. It took some time for me personally to fit in fast but it took me two or three months to get used to everything, to get used to the system, the teammates, and the coach and it’s always a big step when you move to a different club, but I feel very good and ready to play.”

Arsenal Vs Paris Saint Germain

Kai Havertz was on target for Arsenal, as they secured a 2-0 win over Paris Saint Germain, their first victory in the competition this season.

The attacker’s headed goal was his 8th goal contribution for Arsenal in his last 6 appearances at the Emirates Stadium, with the German also scoring in all four home games so far this season.

Bukayo Saka, who captains Arsenal in the absence of Martin Odegaard, completed the job for the Gunners over PSG, with a delightful free-kick.

Kai Havertz

Havertz has scored 19 goals and provided 8 assists in 60 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions since joining the club in 2023.

Kai Havertz will be hoping to help the Gunners claim the Premier League title this campaign, having finished as runner-up in the last 2 seasons.

The German forward is one of the most successful players in the Arsenal dressing room and he will be hoping that he can inspire Mikel Arteta’s side to claim the Premier League or UEFA Champions League.

Havertz has won several trophies in his career, including 1 UEFA Champions League, 1 UEFA Super Cup, and 1 FIFA Club World Cup.

Kai Havertz is expected to return to action with Arsenal on October 5, 2024, when they welcome Southampton to the Emirates Stadium in a matchday 7 Premier League affair.
