Italian Serie A giants Juventus have finally won their first game of the 2021-2022 season after going four games without recording a win.
On Wednesday, September 22, Juventus visited Aberto Picco to play against Spezia. They played the game when they were sitting on the 18th spot in the relegation zone.
Ahead of the game, coach Massimiliano Allegri whose team has managed to record 2 points in four matches, described the game as a “relegation six-pointer”.
During the game, his team proved how much the game meant to them by giving their host a big fight. Moise Kean opened the floor for Juventus in the 28th minute.
Unfortunately for the Italian giants, they could not enjoy the lead for too long before Spezia scored the equalizer through the boots of Emmanuel Gyasi.
To the dismay of many of the Juventus fans that traveled with the team, Spezia took the lead in the 49th minute, thanks to Janis Antiste’s strike.
Despite the heartbreaking goal, the visitors failed to give up. They continue the battle for their first three points of the season until in the 66th minute when Federico Chiesa scored the equalizer.
Massimiliano Allegri and his boys did not come to Alberto Picco to draw a game, they came there for a win. Hence, they continued to fight until the club’s Centre-back Matthijs de Ligt scored the winner in the 72nd minute.
Before the game ended, Juventus had 26 shots, 9 were on target, as against Spezia’s 10 shots, five of which were on target. Juventus enjoyed 60 percent of the possession while the home team made do with 40 percent.
“Luckily we won a match suffering,” Allegri told DAZN after the game. “Otherwise we might have thought we did well and there was nothing more to do.
“There are many things to improve. We have players who must do better in their decisions of the last pass when to shoot on the target.”
“I didn’t have to wait for answers from him or anyone,” Allegri reacted when asked whether Federico Chiesa gave him the right answers during the league game.
“He returned from an injury, tonight he asked me to change because his flexor was tight again.
“The difference tonight is that those who took over did well.”
The 2-3 win has lifted Juventus out of the relegation zone to the 13th spot on the league table with five points in five games.
Aside from the victory on Wednesday, Juventus have continued to show how porous their defense has been. So far this season, Juventus have conceded 8 goals and managed to score 7 goals in 5 games. The Italian giants are yet to keep a clean sheet this season.
Juventus’ next league game is against Sampdoria. The match will take place at Juventus Stadium at 11:30 on Sunday, September 26, 2021.
