Juventus’ Blaise Matuidi is about to join David Beckham’s Inter Miami MLS team

    Juventus defensive midfielder, Blaise Matuidi is heading to Inter Miami, the MLS franchise own by former England skipper, David Beckham in the summer.

    The world cup winner, according to reports will sign for the MLS franchise pending a medical. This is following his mutual agreement with Juventus, to let him join David Beckham’s franchise on a free transfer, tearing up the final year of his contract.

    Matuidi lifts the Serie A trophy

    The 2018 World Cup winner joined Juve from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 and featured prominently in all three seasons in which he spent in Italy, turning out a total of 133 times for the Bianconeri and scoring eight goals.

    33-year-old Matuidi won three Scudetto and picked up the 2018 Coppa Italia and well as the Supercoppa Italiana in the same season.

    He began his professional with Troyes in 2004, before securing a move to Saint-Etienne, where he rose to prominence in Ligue 1. After turning out more than 150 times for Les Verts over a four-year spell, PSG signed him in 2011.

    He also became prominet at the Paris club, where he was one of the first signings of the QSI era, signing up on the same day as fellow France international Jeremy Menez and center-back Milan Bisevac.

    After outlasting both players in the French capital club due to his tireless work ethic, tremendous reliability and an increasing aptitude to get forward and provide a genuine offensive threat, he left in 2017 after playing about 300 matches for the club, scoring 33 goals in the process.

    Matuidi celebrates with Juventus

    Having enjoyed success with PSG, the France national team and Italy, Matuidi will join an Inter Miami side seeking lift off in its inaugural MLS campaign.

    Miami has lost each of its first five competitive fixtures by a single goal on each occasion, with their most recent outing being a 1-0 loss against New York City FC.

    The Frenchman is the first player to leave the Turin giant since the arrival of Andrea Pirlo as the new manager after the sack of Maurizio Sarri after the club missed out in the Champions League to Lyon.

    Although Juventus wanted to keep him, Matuidi wants a new challenge. He will be Inter Miami’s third Designated Player, alongside Matias Pellegrini and Rodolfo Pizarro.
