There have been rumors linking the Liverpool head coach to a managerial role in the German national team after the team crashed out of the 2022 World Cup.

Germany opened their 2022 World Cup campaign on a sad note, losing to less-fancied Asian opponents Japan.

The match doomed their World Cup chances. Their second game against Spain ended in a 1-1 draw, while they recorded a 4-2 win in their last group game against Costa Rica.

The 2010 World Cup champions managed only four points and were bundled out of the tournament after Spain lost 2-1 to Japan.

After the World Cup exit, there have been speculations that Germany’s national team coach Hansi Flick may not retain his job.

The speculations follow the decision of the German Football administrators – the DFB – to schedule talks with Hansi Flick.

The DFB President Bernd Neuendorf has confirmed that talks will be held with the beleaguered Germany head coach this week following the team’s exit from the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Liverpool head coach Jurgen has been rumored to replace Hansi Flick if the latter is being axed from his role after the talks.

However, reports from Sky Sports Germany have confirmed that there are no concrete links between Jurgen Klopp and the DFB to succeed Hansi Flick as Germany’s national team coach.

Speaking to Sky Sports Germany, Jurgen Klopp’s agent Kosicke confirmed Klopp would not be available to take the national team job should the German Football Association (DFB) part ways with Flick or the coach opt to resign.

“It’s a media issue,’ Kosicke said. “Jurgen has a contract in Liverpool until 2026 and he intends to fulfil it.”

In April, Jurgen Klopp signed a four-year contract extension with Liverpool reversing his initial decision to leave the Premier League side when his deal expires in 2024.

The extension would see Klopp remain Liverpool manager for 11 years. The 55-year-old had led the club to Champions League glory and a Premier League title.

However, Kosicke had stated previously that his client would be interested in managing Germany one day, given his pedigree and class as a manager.

At Mainz and Borussia Dortmund, Jurgen Klopp made his blueprints felt and is currently doing the same at Liverpool – taking the club from a mid-table team to a potent Premier League title contenders and Champions League regulars.

Nevertheless, the German national team job is not on the cards for now, according to Kosicke. He may be interested in the job in the future but is currently preoccupied with the task at Anfield.

Meanwhile, Hansi Flick took on the role of head coach last summer after Euro 2020, where Germany were beaten by England in the last-16.

The meeting between the DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and Hansi Flick will be the first meeting where discussions on the state of Germany national team will take place, according to reports.

It will also feature analysis of the team’s performance in the 2022 World Cup and preparations for the Euros 2024 which Germany will host.

Germany has escaped the hurdles of qualifying for the tournament as they have secured automatic ticket as hosts.
