Jurgen Klopp says Georginio Wijnaldum will be missing the trip to Qatar for the Club World Cup against Monterrey on Wednesday.
The midfielder met with a hamstring injury during their Premier League match against Watford. Wijnaldum being taken off the pitch after enjoying an hour of play and got replaced with Andy Robertson.
However, with the 2-0 victory on Saturday, they are now 10 points clear at the top of the table. After the second-place Leicester drew 1-1 with Norwich City the same day.
It is doubtful that injuries, will not ruin the unbeaten top-flight running of the Reds. It is, however, risky for Liverpool to lose one player to injury in each game.
Klopp also indicates that the injuries are their major concern as they strive to keep the top position. Also, facing a bunch of games this December before the mid-season break, including the trip to Qatar.
The team have been coping without Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Fabinho due to injury, now Wijnaldum. Rumor says exhaustion is currently the issue of Liverpool but Klopp disagrees.
Though, the Reds’ performance against Watford lacked potency and only poor finishing avoided the Hornets from having a first-half lead.
Mohammed Salah, thereafter, helps the Reds to get ahead of the game with his brace. His 38-minute opener got a seal with his last-minute tricky goal in the second half.
Meanwhile, if they keep losing players to injury in each match, it will be dangerous for Klopp in all competitions. But he promises to fix the problem as they can not afford to lose more players.
