The manager of Liverpool Football Club, Jurgen Klopp has declared the Premier League game between his team and Leeds United as the most important game ever.
On Wednesday, February 23, 2022, Leeds United will visit the Anfield Stadium to take on Liverpool. Four days after, Liverpool will meet with Chelsea at the Wembley Stadium for the Carabao Cup final.
The game against Chelsea on Sunday, February 27 is Liverpool’s first major opportunity to win one of the four tournaments they are still involved in this season.
But Jurgen Klopp does not want to prioritize the Carabao Cup final game against Chelsea over the club’s 26th Premier League game against Leeds United.
After leading Liverpool to beat Norwich City 3-1 in the Premier League on February 19, coach Klopp told reporters that it has not been easy to be involved in four different tournaments in one season.
“We never had it before, that we are in all four competitions. That’s absolutely incredible and we really enjoy that,” coach Klopp said. “Long may it continue because that means we can play a lot of football games. That’s what we love most.
“But it’s not easy and that’s exactly why we changed seven times [against Norwich].
“I expect from the boys that they listen when I tell them that the next game we play is absolutely the most important game we’ve ever played.”

Why is Coach Jurgen Klopp is prioritizing the Premier League game against Leeds United over the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea?
The 3-2 defeat Manchester City suffered at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur last weekend has helped to open up the Premier League title race which was almost looking like one horse race.
Before Manchester City played Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, the difference between City and second-placed Liverpool was 9 points.
Liverpool took advantage of the points Manchester City dropped by beating Norwich City 3-1 on Sunday. The victory reduced the margin between City and Liverpool to 6 points.
This means that if Jurgen Klopp and his boys want to stand any chance of overtaking Manchester City this season, they must not drop any point.
The good part of Liverpool’s Premier League campaign this season is that they still have a game in hand. If they win their game in hand, the gap between them and City will reduce to three points.
And then, the Premier League title for this season might be decided on April 9, 2022, when Liverpool travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on the current table toppers.
The interesting part of the title challenge between the two clubs is that Manchester City that have been playing this season without a consistent natural striker have superior goals difference than Liverpool that have one of the deadliest attack lines in football.
Currently, Manchester City’s goals difference is 46, while Liverpool’s goals difference is 44 which can be increased in subsequent matches based on the form of Liverpool’s squad.
Hence, Jurgen Klopp would want to take it one game at a time in an attempt to ensure that Liverpool finish the 2021-2022 season as successfully as possible.
