The manager of Liverpool football club, Jurgen Klopp has declared himself unavailable for the Germany national team job which will be vacant after the forthcoming European Championship.

The current head coach of the national team, Joachim Low announced earlier today, March 9, 2021, that he would step down as the country’s head coach after the Euro 2020 which will kick off this summer.

The 2014 World Cup winner and 2008 Euro finalist said the decision to step down after the forthcoming competition would not stop him from remaining motivated for the competition.

Joachim Low’s contract with Germany was originally meant to expire in 2022 but had to discuss with the Germany football association for the deal to end before time. The German tactician has been under serious scrutiny by fans due to the inconsistency of the football team. The criticism is seen as a possible reason why the coach decided to step down from the coaching job.

“I take this step very consciously, full of pride and enormous gratitude, but at the same time continue to be very motivated when it comes to the upcoming European Championship tournament,” Low said.

“Proud because it is something very special and an honor for me to be involved in my country and because I have been able to work with the best footballers in the country for almost 17 years and support them in their development.

“I have great triumphs with them and painful defeats, but above all many wonderful and magical moments – not just winning the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

“I am and will remain grateful to the DFB, which has always provided me and the team with an ideal working environment.”

After Joachim Low’s announcement, Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp was taken up on the Germany national team job ahead of the club’s UEFA Champions League match against RB Leipzig. The coach told the media that he is still under contract with Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp who has coached Borussia Dortmund and FSV Mainz before taken up the coaching job at Liverpool in 2015, still has three years left on his current contract. Unless the board of the club gets discouraged with the performance of Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, the 53-year-old German tactician would remain at the club until June 30, 2024.

“If I am available for coach of the German national team in the summer? No. After the summer? No”, Jurgen Klopp insisted ahead of the second leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 against Leipzig.

“I have three years left at Liverpool, that’s a simple statement, a simple situation.

“You sign a contract and you normally try to stick to that contract, don’t you? I had a contract in Mainz where I stuck with them even though there was interest from other Bundesliga teams with more money.

“Someone else will do the job and I am pretty sure with the amount of really good German managers at the moment the German FA will find a good solution.”
