Spurs faced a humiliating weekend as Newcastle thrashed them 6-1 at St James’ Park which let to the firing of interim coach Cristian Stellini.

The sack came after Stellini – the one that replaced Antonio Conte – was already ruining their plans of finishing in top-four.

Tottenham have now appointed Ryan Mason as caretaker coach as they search for a permanent manager which will be their third in two years.

Julian Nagelsmann, who was sacked by Bayern Munich, has been tipped as the favorite to take over as new boss at Tottenham Hotspurs.

He becomes the frontrunner for the Spurs manager role after pulling out of the Chelsea managerial role.

Daniel Levy, Spurs Chairman, will prefer to have Nagelsmann in before the end of the season according to recent reports.

The 35-year-old German manager still need to be convinced on joining the English Top-Flight club by having a prominent say in the club’s transfer dealings and that will determine if he joins or not.

This means that the only way Nagelsmann could be convinced to join Spurs is if Levy, the club’s chairman, allow his opinion or choices matter in transfer deals.

Transfer are traditionally determined by the club’s board or the recently departed director of football Fabio Paratici.

Spurs’ big-name signings have struggled to make a mark in the team especially the likes of Richarlison, Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence.

Spurs are currently 6 points off the top four, having played two games more than fourth-place Man Utd – who they face on Thursday evening.

    Julian Nagelsmann

Julian Nagelsmann is a German football manager and former football player who was born on 23 July 1987.

Nagelsmann has managed 1899 Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga.

He was born in Bavaria and retired as a footballer at age 20 after a succession of injuries; in 2010, he began his coaching career as a youth coach at Hoffenheim, eventually coaching their first team in 2015, where he led them to a third place finish in the Bundesliga and Champions League qualification.

Nagelsmann left Hoffenheim in 2019 and was named club RB Leipzig manager, where he reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in 2020.

In 2021 he was appointed by Bayern Munich for a world record managerial transfer fee worth €25 million (£21.7 million), which made him the most expensive manager ever.

In his first season with Bayern Munich, he won the Bundesliga title, but was sacked from the club in March 2023.

    How Good Is Nagelsmann?

Julian Nagelsmann was previously referred to as “PR Stunt” when he began his coaching career but has gone on to prove every critic wrong.

The German literally turned down Real Madrid’s request before he turned 31 and now is most wanted coach.

He was made manager of Hoffenheim’s first team, but local press didn’t see him as news worthy as he was just 28-year-old then.

Few years along the line, the youngest manager in Bundesliga history turned down Real Madrid request before he turned 31, managed Bayern Munich and now most wanted in the market.

Nagelsmann looks like he will surely manage a team in the English Premier League, the question is when and where.
