Jude Bellingham might be in big trouble as police in Germany are reportedly set to investigate his comment against the referee, Felix Zwayer, who officiated the Bundesliga game between Bayern Munich and Dortmund.

After the league game which ended 3-2 in favor of Bayern Munich, Dortmund players commented against some of the decisions that the referee made during the game.

The decision that infuriated Borussia Dortmund the most was referee Zwayer’s decision to award Bayern a spot-kick after Mats Hummels handballed the ball in the eighteen yard box.

Dortmund’s coaches and players believe that Hummels did not commit the handball offense intentionally. But after the referee visited the pitchside monitor, he decided to award Bayern the spot-kick.

Dortmund’s coach Marco Rose was so infuriated over the referee’s decision that he was shown a red card for dissent.

Afterward, Robert Lewandowski stepped up and scored the goal in the 77th minute of the game. The goal ended up becoming the winning goal.

Before Hummels committed the handball, Dortmund had a case in Bayern Munich’s eighteen-yard box which the club thought should lead to a spot-kick. But the referee decided to overlook the incident.

Referee Zwayer reportedly failed to check the pitchside monitor despite how Dortmund’s players begged him to do so.

At the end of the game, Jude Bellingham who could not control his emotion told ViaPlay that the referee who German FA banned for six months in 2005 for match-fixing did not deserve to officiate the biggest game in Bundesliga.

He said: “You give a referee, that has match fixed before, the biggest game in Germany, what do you expect?

“For me, it wasn’t [a penalty]. He [Hummels] is not even looking at the ball and he’s fighting to get it and it hits him.

“You can look at a lot of the decisions in the game.”

Also, Jude Bellingham’s teammate at Dortmund, Erling Haaland was lured to comment on referee Felix Zwayer’s officiating. But the Norwegian striker only told ViaPlay that he thought “it was a scandal when it comes to the referee”.

“I asked him ‘why didn’t you just go and look?’ He said: ‘No, there is no need’, Haaland added.

“I need to calm down a little bit now. He was arrogant, and I will not say more.”

A report by Sky Germany claimed that a criminal complaint has been filed against Jude Bellingham over his comment against the referee.

The case has been taken to Dortmund public prosecutor’s office who has the power to determine whether the 18-year-old English midfielder deserves to face prosecution over his comment against the referee.

Jude Bellingham would know his fate over the case before the end of this week according to reports in Germany.

On the other hand, the report did not say whether Haaland would be investigated or prosecuted for calling the officiating a scandal and the referee an arrogant person.
