Several coaches have had the chance to head Chelsea between 2003 to date but four coaches stand out due to their achievements. Based on the evaluation of Futballnews, Jose Mourinho remains the best coach of all time at the club.

Recall that the 59-year-old Portuguese tactician came to the club for the first time in 2004 after he stunned the world by leading Porto to win the 2003-2004 UEFA Champions League title.

Such a success attracted Russian billionaire, Roman Abramovich to the Portuguese coach. The Billionaire brought Mourinho to Chelsea in 2004, an average club that he bought in 2003.

The arrival of Jose Mourinho and the heavy investment of Abramovich began a new era at the club that made the club a prominent side within a short period.

Jose Mourinho’s controversial comments and his successes on the pitch fast-tracked Chelsea’s fame across the world. He made the club one of the fiercest clubs in Europe.

In his first era at the club, Mourinho won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two League Cups, and one FA Cup. Despite his successes at the club, Chelsea terminated his contract in 2007 due to his failure to win the UEFA Champions League.

In 2013, Abramovich decided to appoint Jose Mourinho again. In his second era at the Premier League club, the Portuguese coach won one Premier League title and league title. He was allowed to leave the club again in 2015. He is currently coaching Roma.

Though Chelsea had appointed a series of other world-class coaches that were also successful at the club, it would be so difficult for Jose Mourinho’s legacy at Stamford Bridge to be erased.

He gave Chelsea their identity and make them a top European club through the kind of players he brought to the club and his romance with the media during his first era at the club in which he called himself “The Special One”.
