AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho has made a shocking revelation that he has started wearing a wire to “protect himself”.

Mourinho made the astonishing big revelation after AS Roma’s 1-1 draw with Monza at the U-Power Stadium.

In the same assertion, the Portuguese also claimed that center referee Daniele Chiffi was the “worst” that he had encountered in his career.

The Italian referee red carded Mehmet Zeki in the fifth minute of additional time for a second bookable offense during the 1-1 share of the spoils.

The 1-1 draw left Jose Mourinho frustrated as Roma’s aspirations of European football took a massive dent.

Mourinho lashed out at Danielle Chiffi after the game and requested that the referee should not officiate Roma fixtures in the future.

The former Inter Milan and Chelsea coach also stated he was wearing a wire during the encounter so that any conversation he and Danielle Chiffi had would be recorded.

Jose Mourinho said because he isn’t stupid, he had to protect himself

Mourinho said: “I am not stupid, I had to protect myself. Everything is recorded.”

This is not the first run-in the 60-year-old has had with Chiffi this campaign as Jose Mourinho was  given his marching orders by the Italian referee in September after AS Roma were denied a penalty in their 0-1 loss against Atalanta.

The former FC Porto manager also appeared to bash his own employers for not having “the strength” to tell Serie A that they do not want Danielle Chiffi to referee any of their matches.

Jose Mourinho speaking with DAZN said: “This was the worst referee I have encountered in my entire career.

“Believe me, I have dealt with many bad referees. Usually, when I talk about referees, it is because they have a direct influence on the game.

“In this case, I don’t think that is true. But he is horrible. He makes no human connection with anyone, he has no empathy, he gives a red card to a player who slips because he is exhausted at the 96th minute.

“Unfortunately, this too is a sign of Roma’s weakness as a club, because we do not have the strength of other clubs who can say we don’t want this referee.

“I stopped working 20-30 minutes from the end, because I knew he would give me a red card for anything.

“There are clubs that say I don’t want this referee and Roma either don’t have this capability or the DNA or anything else.

“It’s horrible, with the few players I have in my squad, I could not get a red card.”

As a result of that share of the spoils with Monza, Roma have slipped to 7th on the Italian Serie A table, two points adrift of fourth-placed Inter Milan.

The Giallorossi also have a worse goal difference than AC Milan who sit 6th and Atalanta who sit 5th on the table.

    Referee Danielle Chiffi

Anyway, due to Mourinho’s comment on referee Danielle Chiffi, FIGC’s federal prosecutor opened an investigation into the case and into what Mourinho said.

The investigation was closed afterwards, with Mourinho set to be in the technical area for Roma’s clash with Inter because the incidents took place after the match and not while the encounter was on.

FIGC notified the Portuguese and Roma of the conclusion of the investigation in the early afternoon of Thursday and by way of strict liability, Jose Mourinho has violated 4.1 and 23.1 of the sports justice code.

AS Roma have two positions now, with the first being that their own side of the story will be put forward.

The second stand would be that the 60-year-old would be fined over his comments, but Roma have sounded it clear that they first want to see all the documents of the matter before making a decision.
