Andre Onana stole the headlines with a standout display that saw United escape with a point at Istanbul.
Fenerbache proved the better side from the start, pinning United to their half and trying to break the deadlock.
Onana shone bright for the Red Devils, making a series of spectacular saves to keep United in the game. His most brilliant moment came a minute after the half-hour as Fenerbache continued to mount pressure on Manchester United.
Fenerbache player Szymanski had whipped a dangerous cross into the penalty area, and En-Nesyri headed towards the goal, but Onana made a superb stop to tip it away.
Meanwhile, another Fenerbache player Tadic was there to lift back the rebound into the middle where En-Nesyri headed again, but Onana made another save, palming it over the bar with a precision and ability that is beyond comprehension.
Jose Mourinho in disbelief for Onana’s big save
Fenerbache manager Jose Mourinho was stunned with Andre Onana’s 31st-minute goalkeeping heroics.
It was the closest Fenerbache came to finding an equalizer and the best stop by the goalkeeper to preserve United’s lead.
With the stadium camera panned in his direction, Mourinho could be seen totally lost at Onana’s save. He cupped his mouth with his two hands in awe and broke into uncontrollable laughter before he applauded Onana.
While the Portuguese would have hoped that his team broke the deadlock, he could not help but be impressed by Onana’s uncommon effort to keep off Youssef En-Nesyri’s doubleheader.
After the first half, footage showed him meeting the Cameroonian shot-stopper in the tunnel apparently to applaud his effort.
En-Nesyri finally beat Onana five minutes into the second half to nail home Fenerbache’s long-sought equalizer with the two teams settling for a 1-1 draw.
Meanwhile, Onana’s terrific showing in the match follows the footballer’s recent upbeat performances for Manchester United.
The former Inter Milan goalkeeper has been in top form for Manchester United recently away from the drawbacks of last season.
He has the most number of clean sheets (4) in the Premier League this season and is tipped to challenge for the Premier League Golden Glove Award.
Mourinho blasts referee Clement Turpin for bad officiating
