The 31-year-old midfielder is anticipated to sign an 18-month deal with an additional year’s option.

A £10 million fee and £2 million in add-ons are included in the contract. In order to complete the transaction as soon as possible before the January transfer deadline, Jorginho had to undergo his medicals today.

Jorginho is expected to remain in the Emirates until June 2024 after agreeing to personal terms with the North London club.

The Italian is in the final six months of his Chelsea deal, and the Blues are attempting to sign central midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for a British transfer record.

Fabrizio Romano, a football transfer specialist, tweeted on Tuesday morning, saying: “Jorginho to Arsenal, here we go! Deal agreed on £12m fee; Chelsea accept conditions and documents are being prepared.”

“Personal terms agreed, contract until 2024 with option further year, Jorginho has already accepted. First contact revealed yesterday night — medical booked at Arsenal today in order to get signed/sealed.”

“Arteta, key factor as he appreciates Jorginho.”

After at least two offers for Caicedo were rejected by Brighton, Arsenal turned to Jorginho as a less expensive last-minute replacement.

The Gunners and Chelsea are believed to have agreed a deal earlier on deadline day, and Jorginho’s medical is now finished, according to writer Fabrizio Romano.

According to Romano, Jorginho will sign an 18-month contract with the Premier League’s top team that will keep him there through 2024, and Arsenal can exercise a year extension option to keep him there until 2025.

According to reports, Arsenal would pay the Chelsea pivot an upfront price of £10 million and an additional £2 million in performance-based add-ons.

This season, Mikel Arteta has been successful in keeping his first-choice pairing of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka healthy.

Partey is anticipated to recover from a rib injury in time for the weekend’s Premier League matchup with Everton.

However, Mohamed Elneny’s surgery for a “severe” knee injury has now been confirmed by Arsenal, and the 30-year-old may miss the rest of the campaign.

Since joining Chelsea from Napoli in 2018, Jorginho, 31, has scored 29 goals and provided nine assists in 213 outings, including three goals from 25 appearances across all competitions this season.

Graham Potter hasn’t had Jorginho start every week in the Premier League, but he donned the captain’s armband in the Blues’ most recent victory against Crystal Palace and 0-0 stalemate with Liverpool.
