Leeds’ eighth Premier League game without a victory came on Sunday as they suffered a 1-0 defeat in the hands of Nottingham Forest.

They last recorded a league victory on November 5, and as of now, they are only one goal above the relegation zone.

American Marsch succeeded Marcelo Bielsa in February, and under him, Leeds finished 17th in the previous campaign.

The club’s statement read: “We would like to thank Jesse and his backroom staff for their efforts and wish them well for the future.”

“The process of appointing a new head coach is under way and we will continue to keep supporters up to date throughout the coming days.”

Additionally fired are coach Pierre Barrieu, Cameron Toshack, and Rene Maric.

On Wednesday, 8th at Old Trafford and on 12th February 2023 at Elland Road, Leeds will face in-form Manchester United.

Before he was sacked on Monday, only four of Marsch’s team’s 20 league games were victories, with six games ending in draws and ten games in losses.

He took over the club when Leeds were 16th in the standings as a former coach of RB Leipzig, New York Red Bulls, and Red Bull Salzburg.

On the final day of the previous campaign, they defeated Brentford 2-1 to escape relegation.

    Jesse Marsch

Jesse Alan Marsch, an American professional soccer coach and former player, most recently served as Leeds United’s manager in the Premier League. He was born on November 8, 1973.

Marsch was a midfielder in Major League Soccer (MLS) for 14 seasons with D.C. United, Chicago Fire, and Chivas USA. During that time, he won three league championships, four U.S. Open Cup crowns, and two caps for the American national team.

Marsch ended his playing career in 2010 and transitioned into coaching, first acting as Bob Bradley’s assistant with the U.S. national team as they advanced to the round of 16 at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

After the Montreal Impact joined the Major League Soccer in 2012, he was appointed as the team’s first head coach.

Marsch was hired as the head coach of the New York Red Bulls in 2015 and served in that capacity until the first half of the 2018 Major League Soccer season. Prior to that, he spent a year serving as the assistant coach for his alma mater, the Princeton Tigers.

The Red Bulls won the Supporters’ Shield in Marsch’s debut season as head coach, and he was voted MLS Coach of the Year.

Marsch currently maintains the franchise record for most victories by a coach.

Marsch was hired as Ralf Rangnick’s assistant coach at the German Bundesliga team RB Leipzig in 2018. The team finished third in the league, finished second in the German Cup, and participated in the UEFA Europa League.

Marsch took over as Red Bull Salzburg’s coach in the Austrian Bundesliga after Marco Rose stepped down after the next season. During that time, Salzburg made back-to-back appearances in the Champions League group stage, which was a first for the club.

He left by mutual consent in December and took the club coaching position at RB Leipzig for the 2021–22 campaign. In February, he joined Leeds United.

    What Next For Leeds United?

The Whites’ next Premier League matchups are against a hot Manchester United on Wednesday, 8th and Sunday, 12th February 2023.

Max Wober, Georginio Rutter, Weston McKennie, and Diogo Monteiro were the club’s four new additions during the busy January transfer window.

Ahead of the clash with United, Leeds’ board is currently searching for a new coach to lead the team for the remainder of the season.

Given that Leeds are only three points above the bottom-placed Southampton in the standings and Everton stunned league leaders Arsenal with a 1-0 victory this past weekend, it will be interesting to see how Leeds will cope under a new coach this season.

It has been suggested that West Brom boss Carlos Corberan, who formerly assisted Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road, could take over.
