Jesse Lingard has been able to create a good start for himself at West Ham United as he successfully found a way to put up a five-star performance against Aston Villa on Wednesday, February 3, 2021.

The 28-year-old English football star has not played any Premier League match since the commencement of the 2020-2021 season until he had the chance to do so on Wednesday. His lack of games at Manchester United inspired him to accept a loan move to West Ham United.

Even though he is expected to remain at the London club until the end of this season before he returns to Manchester United, the versatile football star has already made the London Stadium his home.

When the coach of West Ham United, David Moyes allowed Jesse Lingard to play his first Premier League match this season, the world wanted to see if coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been right for benching the England international all this while.

Fortunately for Jesse Lingard, he was able to prove to the world that he can still hold his own in the Premier League. Coach Moyes gave him the number 10 role in the league match against Aston Villa and he played it like a master.

Lingard did not only championed the midfield, he served as a link between West Ham’s midfield and attack. His creativity and his ability to get into goalscoring areas on the field allowed him to score two goals in West Ham’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa.

After the Premier League match, coach David Moyes noted that if Jesse Lingard who has last played for England national team in 2019, could maintain the form he displayed against Aston Villa, England’s coach Gareth Southgate might invite the West Ham’s loanee back to England’s squad.

“If he keeps that form up then it might be Gareth coming knocking again,” he said.

“He will have his own ambitions and challenges to show people he is at a level and he showed a really good level, Ross Barkley is very much the same for Villa.

“There are a lot of people who are pushing hard to make the England squad for the Euros and why shouldn’t Jesse push if he’s in the form he is in tonight?

“If he keeps playing as well as he did he will do a brilliant job for West Ham and if he keeps going like that then he’ll get back into the England squad. I hope he can get back to that standard.”

West Ham United’s 3-1 win has kept the club on the 5th spot on the league table with 38 points in 22 league games. They are 2 points away from a Champions League spot and 9 points away from the first-placed Manchester City.
