Former Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard reacted after he was investigated by South Korean police for riding an electric scooter without a license on the street in Seoul.
Lingard admitted he was not informed that it is illegal to ride an electric scooter without a license with the claims he doesn’t know the rules.
He said, “I didn’t know the rules of wearing a helmet or having a license as well. In England, and probably in Europe as well, you can just pick up an e-scooter off the street and start riding it.”
“Anyone visiting South Korea obviously has to check the rules. It can be dangerous. Safety first for everyone. Obviously, I won’t do that again.”
In addition, he said “Sorry guys in my previous video I meant countries outside the UK have different rules for riding an e-scooter. Regardless, stay safe and know the rules.”
The former England international was under investigation after sharing a clip of himself on the electric scooter without a valid license or a protective helmet. However, the clip has now been deleted by the player.
According to South Korean law which was enacted in 2024, e-lincense was mandated for everyone using an electric scooter, with a fine of 100,000 won (£57) for anyone who violated the law.
In addition, those that are found guilty of riding the scooter without a helmet will be fined 20,000 won (£11).

Lingard signed a two-year contract with FC Seoul in the K-League even though there were better options in Europe.
