No much is known about the late Jeremy Wisten except that he joined Manchester City football academy in 2016 as a center-defender and was released from the club this summer.

The late teenager migrated from Malawi to the United Kingdom with the rest of his family when he was a baby. He fell in love with football and took it as a path to a better life. Unfortunately, he couldn’t live his dreams at Manchester City.

Though Wisten’s family is yet to make any official statement concerning the cause of his death, there are speculations that the teenager committed suicide on Sunday due to depression of being released by Manchester City.

Meanwhile, his former teammate at Manchester City academy who now plays for Blackburn Rovers, Tyrhys Dolan, has opened a GoFundMe account for Jeremy Wisten. The money is intended to be used to give the late footballer a befitting send-off.

“We are raising money to help Jeremy’s family to give him the best send off my brother deserves,” Dolan posted on Instagram.
