Jamie Vardy scored two second-half penalties lift Leicester City above newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion as the Foxes cruised to a 3-0 victory on Sunday afternoon.

New man Timothy Castagne, who moved to the King Power Stadium from Serie A side Atalanta for £22million, opened the scoring for the Foxes before Jamie Vardy’s brace ensured Brendan Rodgers side started the new campaign with a flyer.

West Brom looked the better side in the early stages when they nearly caught the foxes out twice on the break. After receiving the ball from Diangana in the 9th-minute, Robinson cut the ball back into the Foxes box, however, there was no one to tuck the shot home.

Leicester City slowly grew into the game, and they came threatening when Harvey Barnes released Ayoze Perez inside the box. However, the Spaniard was unable to convert the chance as his finishing was nothing to write about.

Finally, the opener came in the x minute, when midfielder Praet, who whipped in a cross for new signing Timothy Castagne to power in a header at the far post.

Leicester continued to dominate, and soon they were rewarded in the 73rd-minute when Bartley fell star striker Jamie Vardy in the penalty area as he charged into the box attempting to block a cross from Harvey Barnes. The Englishman cooly slotted home the resulting penalty for his first goal of the season.

Vardy doubled his tally 10 minutes later from the penalty spot, again, when Dara O’Shea fouled full-back James Justin in the box in the 84th-minute.

Jamie Vardy has now scored 20 penalties in the Premier League. Only six players have more from the penalty spot in the history of the competition.

Leicester City ace James Maddison’s made a 75th-minute appearance, after being sidelined with a hip injury since July. Brendan Rogers would undoubtedly be boosted by the England international’s return.
