Coach Brendan Rodgers is having a huge crisis at Leicester City as the club’s talisman, Jamie Vardy will not be available for the club for eight weeks.

Recall that Jamie Vardy who is currently the highest goalscorer at Leicester City sustained a hamstring injury during a Premier League game between his team and Liverpool on December 28.

Unfortunately for him, he had to continue playing the game with the hamstring injury because Leicester City had exhausted all their substitutions before he sustained the injury.

“He was coming off. But the warrior he is, he didn’t want to. If we could have made another sub that would have helped protect him”, coach Rodgers said after the Leicester City vs Liverpool game which ended 1-0 in favor of Leicester.

Initially, the coach told reporters that the hamstring injury that Jamie Vardy sustained would keep him out of football for two or three weeks. He however added that though the English striker usually recovers from injury in record time, he would not be rushed back.

Unfortunately for Leicester City, earlier today, January 7, it was confirmed that the hamstring injury would keep Jamie Vardy out of football for eight weeks.

Before Vardy sustained the injury, the 34-year-old English striker has recorded 11 goals and provided an assist in 22 games in all competitions this season.

Before it was confirmed that Jamie Vardy’s hamstring injury would sideline him for eight weeks, Leicester City had already lost Patson Daka to injury. The other striker at the club, Kelechi Iheanacho, who is not injured, has joined the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations which will commence on Sunday, January 9, in Cameroon.

As it stands, Leicester City have no natural striker which means that coach Brendan Rodgers would have to improvise by using either Harvey Barnes or Ayoze Perez as strikers.

Unfortunately for Leicester City, their postponed December fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur and Everton have been rescheduled for this month. The game against Everton will come up on Tuesday while that against Tottenham Hotspur will come up on January 19.

Aside from those games, Leicester City will host Watford in a FA Cup third round on Saturday, January 8 without three of the club’s strikers. They will also play Burnley in the Premier League on January 15.
