James Maddison, a star for Leicester, has revealed what he and Pep Guardiola discussed after the Premier League game between the two teams on Saturday.

James Maddison recalls a humorous remark made by Pep Guardiola during their conversation following Leicester and Man City's match

The Manchester City manager led his team to a 0-1 victory, and after the game he approached the Foxes midfielder and had a passionate conversation with him.

As Leicester frustrated the opponents with a defensive strategy up to Leicester’s late attempt to get an equalizer, Kevin De Bruyne scored the game’s lone goal.

When asked what Guardiola said to him, Maddison told BT Sport: “He was asking why we didn’t play like the last 15 minutes for the whole game.”

“But he realizes it’s not as easy as that.”

“He’s a top manager with a top team and it’s always going to be tough.”

The Premier League winners had very few opportunities thanks to Brendan Rodgers’ team’s tight 5-4-1 shape.

Maddison was crucial in trying to generate an opportunity as Leicester tried to score an equalizer.

Maddison has been the club’s standout performer, scoring six goals and setting up two more.

With the World Cup coming up, Maddison has been pleading for a call-up to the England team.

While Arsenal is only one point behind and still has a game this weekend, Mancity has surged to the top of the standings.

The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona manager has previously spoken with rival players after games.

When Nathan Redmond was still at Southampton, he approached him and advised him to attack more.

James Daniel Maddison is an attacking midfielder for Premier League team Leicester City. He was born in England on November 23, 1996.

Before moving on to join Norwich City in 2016, Maddison started his career with Coventry City. He was Aberdeen’s loanee during the 2016–17 campaign in the Scottish Premiership.

Maddison was chosen to the EFL Team of the Season and the Championship PFA Team of the Year in his first season back at Norwich. In 2018, he signed with Leicester City of the Premier League.

Maddison played for England at the under-21 level from 2017 to 2019, and earned one senior squad appearance in that same year.

Why is Maddison not going to World Cup In Qatar?

There has been substantial debate regarding Maddison’s ongoing exclusion from Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions team.

The 25-year-old has played for England just once, in November 2019, and it seems difficult for him to win over Southgate before Qatar 2022 World Cup begins the following month.

Despite his teammates not matching his personal form, Maddison has had a successful start to the Premier League season.

This season, the midfielder has accumulated six goals and two assists in ten games across all competitions.

Many believe Maddison may assist to solve the lack of inventiveness in Southgate’s current England team.

Harry Kane, Southgate’s captain, is the only Englishman with more Premier League goals (24) or goal involvements (34) than Maddison going back to the beginning of the previous season (17 goals, 10 assists).
