Jadon Sancho will have to fight for his starting place next season under new Manager Erik ten Hag

Jadon Sancho must have an immediate impact at Manchester United next season since the big-money move is “weird” as it stands.

The Red Devils had been after the winger for a long time and finally got him last summer. Sancho joined United for £73 million from Borussia Dortmund, and he arrived at Old Trafford with high expectations.

However, in his first season in the Premier League, the 22-year-old failed to adjust.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the former Manchester United manager, was chastised for not playing Sancho enough in the opening half of last season. Following that, interim manager Ralf Rangnick, who had been watching Sancho’s improvement in Germany, sparked a run of good form from the winger.

Due to his inconsistency in the 2021-2022 season, Sancho was left out of England’s Nations League squad for the international break in June.

Sancho has been cautioned by Noel Whelan that if he wants to play for the Three Lions at the World Cup, he must make a quick start to the 2022-2023 season at United.

Jason Sancho had a difficult season at Manchester United last season because the England international did not put in the kind of effort that would win him a starting spot on the team.

That contributed to his absence from the England squad this June. Most of the players that were invited to the team are players who have been playing more frequently and with greater results. It took him a long time to ultimately join Man United, and the transition hasn’t been easy.

Under coach Erik Ten Hag, he should be able to play more minutes and in a system that suits him better. Last season, we didn’t see much in the way of consistency.

Sancho isn’t the only England player on Man United’s books hoping to reclaim his place in Gareth Southgate’s plans.

Marcus Rashford, who played a vital part under the current management, has also been eliminated from the Three Lions’ plans.

This season, he had his run of bad luck, as well as shoulder surgery, which pushed him back.

Rashford had opportunities to impress Rangnick, but never quite recovered.

As a result, Sancho and Rashford have a major season ahead of them. City’s Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish, and Phil Foden were all named to Southgate’s current roster.

Sancho and Rashford both have work to do if they are to join them in the group – or if they are to force one or more of the trio out ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
