Brentford talisman and former Newcastle striker Ivan Toney went partying a few hours after the FA confirmed charges against him.
The England star was pictured for the first time partying and having a pleasant time with his former Newcastle pal after he was charged for breaching betting rules.
The Brentford striker faces the risk of being banned following allegations that he has broken FA Regulations after betting 232 times between February 2017 and January 2021.
According to reports, Toney was at the center of investigations on match-betting that had allegedly breached FA regulations for months.
A statement by the FA, which confirms the misconduct charge, filtered into the media space on Wednesday night, November 16, 2022.
The news came after Gareth Southgate took a highly debated stance – omitting the England star from the Three Lions’ 26-man list for the 2022 World Cup.
However, Gareth Southgate admitted that Ivan Toney’s omission does not have anything to do with the FA investigation into his gambling activities.
Before the World Cup break kicked off, Ivan Toney was the Premier League third highest goal-scorer. He is the second Englishman with the highest amount of goals in the Premier League so far this season. Only Harry Kane has scored more goals than Toney this season when compared with the English players in Gareth Southgate’s squad.
Gareth Southgate defended his decision to leave out Toney from his World Cup squad by saying the striker needs time to adjust himself to the squad after being taken to the UEFA Nations League but was uncapped.
Apart from Ivan Toney’s prolific form for Brentford so far this season, Southgate admitted that experience is another critical factor.
Days after his omission from the World Cup squad, Ivan Toney netted twice at the Etihad to condemn Premier League giants Manchester City to their second defeat of the season.
The brace further reawakened the debate on Gareth Southgate’s 2022 World Cup forwards without Ivan Toney.
Amid the debate, FA were still on their probe of the striker for breaching FA Regulations on gambling, and he was later charged.
However, Ivan Toney seemed a bit not bothered as he made out time to attend Roland Aaron’s birthday bash and was pictured smiling and having a nice time at the birthday party.
Aaron, the celebrant, is a two-cap Jamaica international and is now back with his parent-club Huddersfield, after his loan to Motherwell in Scotland.
Ivan Toney and Roland Aaron were teammates when both played for the Magpies between 2015 and 2018.
While he played till 2021 for Newcastle, Ivan Toney went on several loan spells – six times – before he joined Peterborough and Brentford.
During his spell with the Magpies, he made just four first-team appearances and scored no goal.
Toney saw his career gather enough momentum at Brentford, scoring 58 goals in 105 appearances, including the 10 goals he has scored after 14 games this season.
According to reports, if Ivan Toney is convicted after a court hearing, he may likely face a maximum sentence of up to six months ban.
This will be a temporary setback to his rising football career. However, the English star is apparently confident of coming out unscathed from the allegations.
