Brentford striker Ivan Toney confessed he was annoyed at being brought in for the additional time against Slovakia in the Euro 2024.
Nevertheless, the player insisted he would take the opportunity to help the team succeed whenever he got it.
In a press conference on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, the player reacted to the limited time given to him by coach Gareth Southgate so far in Euro 2024. He said, “Every player’s going to have the hump when they’re not playing games, especially when there’s one minute to go.”
“Luckily, we managed to get the equaliser, and then it was up to me to put myself in a better space and get out of my mood. I did that and managed to contribute to achieving Harry Kane’s goal.”
“I’ve got a guy who’s always talking about controlling your emotions, and, in that moment, it was time to control your emotions.”

He made his first appearance for the Three Lions of England in the Euro 2024 against Slovakia and proceeded to create a chance for Harry Kane’s goal in extra time.
After Ivan Toney’s performance against Slovakia, England manager Gareth Southgate revealed that the player felt disgusted for being introduced in extra time of the game.
Toney is a starter in the Brentford squad. He has been the club’s target man and has been instrumental to their success in the Premier League since the club secured promotion in 2021.
