Bayern Munich striker, Robert Lewandowski has described landing the 2020 FIFA footballer of the year award as an incredible honour.

The Polish striker finished last season as the highest goalscorer in all the competitions he featured in scoring 55 goals across them.

He was rewarded for winning three trophies with the Bavarian club last season by FIFA at the virtual event held at its headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on December 17.

The Polish striker has continued from where he stopped last season landing two trophies this season already – the UEFA Super Cup and the German Super Cup. He has also scored 20 goals so far.

He recently broke a Bundesliga record to become the third player to score over 250 goals in the German domestic league.

Reacting to the win via his Twitter page, the 32 -year-old wrote: “I will repeat what I said a while ago. Never stop dreaming. Thank you so much for this award, it’s an incredible honour to receive this tonight.”

Lewandowski finally fulfill his dream of landing the Champions League trophy and FIFA world footballer of the year prize

The Polish has never given up himself on achieving his dream. Lewandowski has always dreamed of winning two high prizes in his career – the Champions League and the world footballer prize.

If not that the Ballon D’or won’t be held this year, the Polish would have taken it home as well due to his impressive stats which Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo couldn’t match last season.

Even currently, he is still in the front line to get another laurel, having laid his hands on two already.

With 20 goals so far in 18 games played by him so far, consistency will be key for the 32-year-old to continue breaking the duopoly of Ronaldo and Messi.

Football fans can’t wait to see who will win the bragging rights as the race now becomes three-man horse race.

But the stage belongs to Lewandowski now, having worked hard to achieve this. From all of us at Futballnews, we say congratulations to Lewandowski as he bids to win another one this season.
