Manchester United vs Manchester City in brief:
City’s 2-1 victory over United in the championship game kept their triple ambition alive.
After only 12 seconds, City jumped ahead thanks to a magnificent volley from Ilkay Gundogan.
David de Gea was frozen in place as the City end of Wembley went crazy.
However, the Red Devils put up a fight, surprising some who expected the floodgates to flow at that very moment.
Referee Paul Tierney was instructed by VAR to consult the pitchside monitor and subsequently ruled that Jack Grealish had committed a handball inside the penalty area.
Bruno Fernandes unusually tied the game by converting a penalty kick.
However, Gundogan scored again just after halftime, this time with a little less force on his volley.
De Gea stretched and got a hand to the ball, but the spin on it allowed it to sneak past him.
Gundogan scored twice for City, and they went on to win the FA Cup despite United’s best efforts.
It means that City has secured two-thirds of the triple, with only the Champions League final against Inter Milan remaining.
What’s next for Manchester City?
Pep Guardiola’s men will be well-prepared ahead of their UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan on the 10th of June in Istanbul, Turkey.
