International Break Injuries: Erling Haaland, Vinicius, And Others Sidelined

While some players were very excited to have made their debut for their national team during the international break, some were not.

Futballnews brings you all the players that were injured during the break in a big blow to their respective clubs.

Vinícius Junior (Brazil)

Carlo Ancelotti will be without another big-name player after Vinicius Jr. was ruled out until the New Year with a hamstring injury.

The 23-year-old has been in excellent form for Real Madrid this season, scoring six goals in 13 games across all competitions, and losing him is a huge setback for Los Blancos.

Erling Haaland (Norway)

Erling Haaland of Manchester City was ruled out of Norway’s match against Scotland on Sunday owing to an ankle injury.

The 23-year-old is a doubt for City’s next Premier League match, which takes place at home against Liverpool on November 25.

On Thursday, November 26th, 2023, Haaland suffered ankle while playing in Norway’s 2-0 win over the Faroe Islands.

Eduardo Camavinga (France)

Eduardo Camavinga suffered a knee ligament injury while on international duty with France, adding to Real Madrid’s increasing list of injured players.

On Wednesday, November 15, 2023, the midfielder collided with Paris Saint-Germain attacker Ousmane Dembele while training with Les Bleus.

Warran Zaïre-Emery (France)

Warren Zaire-Emery, a midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain, will miss the rest of the season after suffering an injury during the international break.

Zaire-Emery, a teenage sensation, was injured on his France debut, and medical examinations over the weekend verified a “medium-serious sprain” to his right ankle.

There were initial concerns that Zaire-Emery, 17, had suffered a fracture, but the Ligue 1 club has now calmed those fears, and the player will be out until next year.

Gavi (Spain)

Gavi has a full tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, as well as a lateral meniscus injury, according to Barcelona.

The club confirmed this after tests on the 19-year-old on Monday 20th November 2023 revealed that he has a full tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, as well as a related lesion to the lateral meniscus.

Gavi will have surgery in the coming days, following which a new medical update will be issued as stated by the Spanish club.

Marcus Rashford (England)

Gareth Southgate played down fears that Marcus Rashford will miss playing time after being knocked out during the international break.

Rashford was replaced shortly after the hour mark in England’s 1-0 victory over Malta on Friday night.

The Manchester United star got involved in a collision with Trent Alexander-Arnold, which left him lying on the ground, and he immediately was replaced by Cole Palmer.

Weston McKennie (USA)

Before United States’ Concacaf Nations League quarter-final secund leg against Trinidad and Tobago, midfielder Weston McKennie left the team’s camp.

According to the USSF, the Juventus player suffered from left knee tendinopathy, a type of injury due to overuse, and might be out for a lengthy time.

Andre Onana (Cameroon)

Andre Onana was replaced with less than 10 minutes to go in Cameroon’s 3-0 win over Mauritius on Friday 17th November, 2023 after he felt some discomfort.

According to the Cameroonian Federation, the shot-stopper has an injury to his pubis, one of the bones that make up the pelvis.

Jarrod Bowen (England)

Jarrod Bowen was set to have a scan on a knee injury that forced him to pull out of the England squad for their Euro 2024 qualifier before the North Macedonia match.

The Three Lions faced North Macedonia on Monday night as they look to round off their qualification campaign in style and the West Ham ace did not feature in the match.

The West Ham star was an unused substitute for the clash with Malta on Friday night at Wembley and the same happened in England’s match against North Macedonia.
