Inter Milan have successfully ended the nine years reign of Juventus in the Italian Serie A by clinching this season’s Scudetto with four games left to play.
Juventus were the defending champions of the Serie A title, a position they occupied for nine successive years, starting from 2012.
For the past 11 years, Inter Milan have not come close to winning the Scudetto but the arrival of coach Antonio Conte and the signing of Belgium striker, Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United, made the team unstoppable in Serie A this season.
As it stands, Inter Milan have won Scudetto 19 times, one title more than their local rivals, AC Milan. While Juventus remain the most successful club in Italian Serie A with a record 36 Scudetto.

How Inter Milan became the champions of Serie A this season
From the start of the 2020-2021 season, it was clear that Inter Milan were ready to give Juventus a run for their money and they did it in-ground style.
In 34 Serie A games, Inter Milan ensured that they won 25 of them and drew 7 which earned them 82 unassailable points. They have only managed to suffer 2 defeats throughout the season.
Just like they are good at defending, Inter Milan showed their attacking prowess by scoring a total number of 74 goals and conceded only 29 goals, making them the best defensive team in the league so far.
The club’s talisman, Romelu Lukaku scored 21 of the goals to win the title as the league’s second-highest goalscorer behind Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo with 27 goals.
With five games remaining, they went into Saturday’s game against Crotone with the mindset of champions and ended the game with a 2-0 victory which gave them their 82 points.
However, for the points to be unassailable, second-placed Atalanta must suffer defeat or a draw in their Sunday’s game against Sassuolo. Lo and behold, Atalanta drew 1-1 and Inter Milan were confirmed the champions of Serie A for the 2020-2021 season.

Antonio Conte reaction after stopping Juventus’ reign which he started
The current coach of Inter Milan, Antonio Conte started the nine years reign of Juventus by coaching the club to a Scudetto triumph at the end of the 2011-2012 season. From then, Juventus became unstoppable until this season he had to stop what he started by using Inter Milan.
In his reaction after winning the Scudetto for Inter Milan with four games left to play, Conte said he would enjoy the moment together with his team and family.
He said, “We only thought about the present because we couldn’t do it otherwise, we wanted to achieve our goal. Now the President (Steven Zhang) has arrived, there are four games left, but I also want to enjoy this moment. In other victories, I got caught up in other situations and I didn’t enjoy the moment, this time I want to enjoy it after many sacrifices.
“Then there will be time to talk and understand the situation, but at this moment, and by past experiences in which I have not enjoyed anything, I now want to make the most of it together with the team and my family. We deserved it and I don’t want anyone to disturb us.”
