Inter Miami Suffer Their Biggest Defeat Without Lionel Messi After They Conceded Six Goals Against Cincinnati


MLS giant Inter Miami suffered their biggest defeat without Lionel Messi after they conceded six goals against Cincinnati this season.

Lionel Messi is currently with the Argentina national team in the 2024 Copa America.

Both Inter Miami and Cincinnati started the game without their significant players because of injuries, suspensions, and international duty. 

The Miami side had a chance to convert first as their headed corner got saved by Cincinnati goalkeeper Roman Celentano.

Cincinnati forced Miami goalkeeper Drake Callender into a series of saves before the opener came through Yuya Kobo in the 10th minute of the game.

It was a beautiful goal from Japanese midfielder Yuya Kubo. The first goal became possible because of the beautiful run from the 30-year-old midfielder. 

After the first goal came from the Cincinnati side, Inter Miami kept pressuring the Cincinnati side, with the goalkeeper Roman Celentano making three important saves to stop Inter Miami from getting an equaliser.

Inter Miami came back with a beautiful header from Sergii Kryvtsov in the 20th minute of the game.

Cincinnati extended their lead in the 36th minute of the game after Luciano Acosta dribbled past his opponents and went ahead to release a shot which went past the Miami goalkeeper.

Two minutes after Cincinnati’s second goal, they scored the third goal of the game through Pavel Bucha. It was the midfielder’s fourth goal of the season.

Before the end of the first half, the Cincinnati team scored the fourth goal of the game through Yamil Asad. It became extremely embarrassing after Kubo made it 5-1 in the 57th minute of the game. 

In the 62nd minute of the game, Sergio Busquets was sent off after the former Barcelona midfielder made a horrible tackle on his opponent. 

19-year-old midfielder Gerardo Valenzuela scored the final goal of the game to make it 6-1.

The Inter Miami side played without Luis Suarez, who is not available for selection because of the 2024 Copa America.

Suarez is currently with the Uruguay squad and is preparing for the semi-final tie against the Colombia national team in the 2024 Copa America.

Cincinnati has moved to the top of the Eastern Conference of the MLS after the club played 22 matches and scored 48 points. They are currently leading the Inter Miami side by a point.

The Miami side have played 23 matches this season, and they currently sit in second place in the League with 47 points.

What Next For The Inter Miami And Cincinnati Side

Inter Miami will play against Toronto on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 12:30 a.m. It is a must-win for the Eastern Conference second placed team that are eyeing the top of the league.

Cincinnati will play against Charlotte FC on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 12:30 a.m. Cincinnati have been tipped to triumph over the Charlotte side, which had only won nine games out of 22 matches.
