Inter Miami didn’t have issues without Messi on Saturday night in Fort Lauderdale as they showed how he’s improved their mentality.

The Herons managed to keep their MLS hopes alive with a 3-2 win over Sporting Kansas City in a thrilling encounter.

Though the match was played without their summer signing Lionel Messi, the team showed resilience despite Sporting KC taking an early lead.

Things got off rough for Messi’s side as they trailed the visitors early in the game but Leonardo Campana’s brilliance turned things around for the hosts before the break.

The comeback-win for the Herons answered the big question on everyone’s lips – if they could win without star signing Messi – with a 3-2 victory.

New signings, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, led the MLS side against Sporting KC despite the absence of Messi and other key players.

While Miami needed points, Lionel Messi was away on international duty with Argentina for CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers.

The Argentine had already scored 11 goals and 5 assists to keep their tiny playoff chances alive to an extent.

Inter Miami missed Messi in the line-up as he was busy helping his country, scoring a freekick and only goal against Ecuador.

Despite missing key players, Inter Miami showed they have the mentality to win even though they saw a setback in the 9th minute.

Dániel Sallói scored a beautiful right-footed shot from the center of the box that beat the Miami keeper Drake Callendar.

However, the hosts responded in the 25th minute from the spot, as Leonardo Campana scored the penalty to level the game,

Campana also took matters into his own hands and again scored with a header in the 45th minute after he was found by DeAndre Yedlin.

Inter Miami did not really feel the absence of several of their key players, thanks to Leonardo Campana, who proved they can compete.

The visitors, however, added one goal in the 78th minute, but it was more of a consolation goal as the time was well spent.

Inter Miami managed to win the match with a one-goal advantage despite the MLS side missing important players, especially Lionel Messi.

The MLS Franchise has about eight other players away on international duty, including Josef Martinez (Venezuela), Robert Taylor (Finland), and Benjamin Cremaschi (USA).
