Barcelona talisman, Lionel Messi has expressed his frustration for being accused of being the problem at the Catalan club.

Messi is reported to wield a huge influence at the club leading to the resignation of the former Barca President, Josep Bartomeu. The Barcelona all-time highest goalscorer had tendered his transfer last summer, which was turned down.

The extent of Messi’s influence was obvious after the former President promised to resign if the Argentine promised to sign a new deal and remain with the club.

Lionel Messi has scored just one goal from open play this season at Barcelona.

Meanwhile, the temporary board is planning a new deal for Messi but will involve a wage cut, as clubs continue to suffer from the effect of COVID-19.

In expressing his displeasure at the assertion that he has a huge influence at the club, the captain once again showed his frustration at current events.

“I’m tired of always being the problem for everything at the club,” he replied journalists whilst leaving the airport in Barcelona.

Why Messi frustrated over alleged influence at Barcelona

According to El Mundo Deportivo, Messi’s reaction is following comments made by Eric Olhats, the former agent of Antoine Griezmann, which was critical of the Argentine star.

Olhats in an interview with France Football said the Frenchman has been rendered powerless as Messi allegedly controls everything, adding that he is not happy with his arrival from Athletico Madrid.

“Antoine arrived at a club with serious problems where Messi controls everything. He is both emperor and monarch and did not see Antoine’s arrival with good eyes.

“Messi’s attitude has been deplorable, he has made him feel it. I’ve always heard Antoine say that he had no problems with Messi, but never the other way around. It is the regime of terror. Either you are with him, or you are against him.”

Messi is no doubt a respected player at the club, which has been seen from the reaction of the coach, Ronald Koeman, who denied having problem with then star.

After scoring his first goal from the open play against Real Betis, it is hoped that Messi will stay t Camp Nou till the end of the season or move away from the club.
