Sara Arfaoui, the wife of Manchester City’s captain Ilkay Gundogan has expressed her gratitude towards City fans for their affectionate support.
The 28-year-old model bid City farewell after she had previously shared her frustrations about living in Manchester.
This summer, the model and TV presenter will be departing from England to Catalonia alongside her footballer husband, Gundogan as he joins Barcelona as a free agent.
Arfaoui said that many joyful memories will accompany her husband to Catalonia especially the euphoria of City’s historic Treble-win, thanks to Gundogan.
The farewell suggested that the 28-year-old model and TV presenter, has had a change of heart regarding certain aspects of life in Manchester following her criticism of a culinary scene in Manchester.
Arfaoui expressed her frustration regarding City’s food
In October 2022, Arfaoui expressed her dissatisfaction on social media regarding the food available in Manchester.
She said: “I’m sorry, to be honest, but I feel sad about it. However, there’s nothing I can do. I made a sincere effort to find a good restaurant, but unfortunately, I encountered subpar food at every place I tried.
“I am having trouble finding authentic Italian cuisine, high-quality sushi, or fresh food in general.
“It seems like everything I come across is frozen. The restaurants in this area primarily prioritize generating revenue through drinks and shots, similar to nightclubs, rather than focusing on providing high-quality food.”
“Perhaps there are things to do in London, but in Manchester, there is nothing. I apologize.”
Arfaoui bid Manchester City farewell
However, in her farewell message on Instagram, Arfaoui expressed her intense gratitude to the club, City fans and friends, saying: “I am unable to articulate my thoughts fully as I am still processing the reality of the situation.”
“I would like to express my gratitude to Manchester for the overwhelming love and support we have received. Additionally, I would like to extend my thanks to our friends for their unwavering support.”
“I will miss my family in City. I arrived in Manchester with no expectations, but I am leaving as a wife, a mother, and with the most amazing friends we could have ever wished for.”

Arfaoui no longer has to worry about dining out in the North West of England.
The super-sexy model will be accompanying Gundogan on his new adventure in Spain.
The 32-year-old recent Manchester City captain has decided to leave Etihad Stadium after spending seven memorable years at the club, during which he made 304 appearances.
The Germany international became Pep Guardiola’s first signing for City when he joined the Etihad in 2016 for a transfer fee of £21 million from Borussia Dortmund.
Gundogan was offered a new one-year contract by the Champions League winners. However, he decided to join Barcelona instead after having a conversation with manager Xavi.
He has recently signed a two-year contract with Barcelona, marking his departure from City after a successful seven-year tenure in which he won a total of 12 major trophies.
