Iliman Ndiaye to Everton Done Deal, Ashley Young Signs New Contract at 38

French-born Senegalese attacking midfielder Iliman Ndiaye is set for a new career chapter with Everton in the Premier League.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 24-year-old has agreed to a five-year contract with the Merseyside club. Further details of the report revealed that Everton will fork out €18.5m and €1.5m as add-ons for the player, taking the total transfer value to €20m.

Other Premier League clubs were reportedly interested in Ndiaye but Everton scaled through the competition to bring in the midfielder.

“Ndiaye has agreed on a five-year deal at #EFC, despite other PL clubs interest he only wanted Everton,” Fabrizio Romano says.

Who is Iliman Ndiaye?

Iliman Ndiaye is a French-born Senegalese professional footballer, who is set to leave Olympique Marseille in French Ligue 1 to play for Chelsea in the Premier League. Ndiaye was born and raised in France where he nurtured his football career. He plays as an attacking midfielder and has earned plaudits for his glowing performance for Marseille.

Iliman Ndiaye career

Ndiaye played for five different club academies before making his first senior club appearance. He started nursing his career at the age of 5 in his place of birth, Rouen, playing for Rouen Academy from 2005 to 2011. After six years with the Rouen Academy, he joined Marseille Academy in 2011. At Marseille Academy, Ndiaye spent a year and was off the spotlight for two years for undisclosed reasons before returning in 2014. This time, he pitched his tent with Dakar Sacré-Cœur and spent two years with the youth outfit before moving to England where he would make his first professional career appearance in club football.

In England, Ndiaye played for Boreham Wood for three years from 2016 to 2019. He reportedly signed his first professional contract with the club but could not break into the first team. He would later join Sheffield United in 2019 where he made his first senior career appearance.

It was a slow career start with the Blades in 2019 for Ndiaye. He was temporarily loaned to Hyde United in 2020, where he made 6 appearances, scoring one goal. However, after a screeching start, Ndiaye returned from his loan spell to settle for a remarkable career at Bramall Lane. He made 77 league appearances for the club, scoring 21 goals throughout his four-year stint with the club.

From Sheffield United, Ndiaye returned to French Ligue 1, signing for his former youth side Marseille. He made 30 Ligue 1 appearances for the club, scoring 3 goals.

Since his breakout into professional football, Ndiaye has tallied 143 club career appearances, scoring 27 goals. He made 88 appearances for Sheffield United, scoring 22 goals, registered 9 on loan to Hyde United with a goal, and 46 appearances for Marseille with 4 goals in all competitions.

In other transfer development at Everton, one of the key players last season and Man United legend – Ashley Young – has extended his contract with the club.

As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, the prolific English full-back has penned down a one-year new contract with the Merseyside outfit.

The former Inter Milan and Watford defender joined Everton from Aston Villa in 2023 on a one-year contract. He proved crucial to the Toffees’ stay in the English top flight after the fierce relegation battle that followed their points deduction. With a new contract in place, the 38-year-old will be hoping to add to 31 Premier League tally for the Toffees come next season.
