Iker Casillas had taken to his Twitter account to point out that he does not understand some things about football awards.
The former Real Madrid goalkeeper, Iker Casillas said this after Lionel Messi was given the FIFA best player of the year award and Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni received the FIFA best manager award.
Iker Casillas does not understand why the football governing body would decide to give the award to Messi ahead of Karim Benzema, who had an exceptional season last year and won the Ballon d’Or.
Benzema was one of the world’s most talented players, and he was crucial to Real Madrid’s success and path to winning the Champions League.
He scored 63 goals and created 21 assists. Benzema won the UEFA Champions League, the Spanish Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Other achievements by the French striker
included UEFA Champions League top scorer, La Liga top scorer, Spanish Super Cup top scorer, the best goal maker in the Champions League, and many more.
However, constant injuries made him miss the World Cup in Qatar.
In addition, Iker Casillas could not believe Scaloni was awarded the FIFA Best Coach in the World Award ahead of Carlo Ancelotti, who won the Double for Real Madrid last season.
Ancelotti joined Real Madrid from Everton and totally changed the fate of the team with flexible tactics and interesting personnel management.
During the Ballon d’Or football award, Ancelotti won the Globe Soccer award for the best manager of the year.
Note that all the Real Madrid players and staff failed to attend the FIFA ceremony on Monday as they prepared for a more demanding fixture against Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey on March 2, 2023.

In addition, the Argentina FA have a good belief that Scaloni is going to lead them to another trophy and was given a new deal.
He is going to lead Argentina as the defending champions in the next World Cup.
However, there is no assurance that captain Messi will be available for the 2026 World Cup as he moves closer to his retirement from international football.
