Iker Casillas, a legendary player for Real Madrid, has vehemently refuted reports that he is dating music sensation Shakira, immediately after her breakup with his longtime Spain teammate Gerard Pique.
After a 12-year romance during which they had two children—Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7—but never wed. Pique and the Grammy-winning singer announced their separation in June.
On the other hand, Casillas divorced Sara Carbonero, a sports journalist with whom he had two children and a five-year marriage.
When the two started following one another on Instagram, rumors of a romance between the legendary goalkeeper and the Barcelona star’s ex-girlfriend started to circulate.
However, the 41-year-old Spain legend fiercely refuted those rumors in an Instagram story in which he provided images of reports claiming he was now dating the Colombian musician.
The Spanishman concluded his account with the following post: “Touch your nose. OMG [Oh My God].”
While filming the music video for her World Cup song Waka Waka in 2010, Pique and Shakira became friends (This Time for Africa).
The renowned center-back and Casillas both played for Spain in that final, which saw them defeat the Netherlands 1-0. The 45-year-old singer gave that performance while it was taking place in South Africa.
Coincidentally, that was the night the Real great revealed to the world that he was dating Carbonero as the ex-couple shared a tender moment on live television following the game.
Spain’s most recent golden generation, which included Casillas and Pique, won back-to-back Euro championships in 2008 and 2012 as well as their first World Cup in 2010.
The two men, however, also had a ferocious El Clasico rivalry in the late 2000s and the next decade.

What led Shakira and Pique to part ways?
The Colombian pop singer Shakira and Barcelona defender Gerard Pique are rumored to have split up, but the singer’s former brother-in-law Roberto Garcia claims to know the truth.
Garcia, an ex-boyfriend of one of Shakira’s sisters, claims that Pique and Shakira’s problems began because of money.
He claimed that Pique had approached Shakira about giving him a loan so he could use the money to invest in other companies, but the children’s mother had declined since her parents had warned against it.
Garcia stated to the Spanish news source EsDiario: “According to what a person very close to them has told me, there has been an economic problem between the two. Supposedly, Piqué would have asked Shakira for money for an investment issue, and the singer’s family has refused to give it to him.”
“They don’t mix their money, and they keep the family economy at 50%.”
He also added, “Shakira fixed on Piqué because she liked him to be the father of her children. She knew she would never marry him.”
Pique and Shakira ended their relationship in June after dating since 2010. Their two sons are named Milan and Sasha.
