If relegated, West Ham will pursue Everton defender Michael Keane during the summer transfer window.

Should Everton and England defender Michael Keane be demoted from the Premier League this season due to clubs relegation, West Ham would aim to add him to their roster.

Despite signing Kurt Zouma in the summer, the Hammers have been short in central defense this season. All three of Zouma, Angelo Ogbonna, and Issa Diop have sustained season-ending injuries, leaving Craig Dawson as the team’s only recognized center defender heading into the final stretch.

The London club would make efforts to avoid this from happening again by attempting to entice Keane away from Everton for a reduced sum if the Toffees find themselves in financial difficulty as a result of the incident. Hammers value Keane, who has 12 England caps, at roughly £20 million, but given Everton’s financial troubles, it’s unclear just how much he’d cost.

‘He [Moyes] sees Keane, who would cost roughly £20 million, as the appropriate guy to give the Europa League semi-finalists much-needed defensive cover.

If West Ham wins their semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt, they will face either RB Leipzig or Rangers in the final, which would be their first major European trophy since 1964/65.

It would be a significant step forward for the Hammers, who have gone from just avoiding relegation in 2019–20 to finishing in one of the European spots for next season, along with a stint in the Premier League.

And, while there are still some doubts about Declan Rice’s long-term prospects, he is making strides in the right direction.

During Moyes’ tenure at Manchester United, Keane was on the rise, and the Scot appears to be keen on a reunion.

Keane joined Everton from Burnley for £25 million in 2017 and has since made nearly 200 appearances for the Toffees.

Keane has been heavily criticized in recent years, despite being hailed as “outstanding” by analyst James McFadden earlier this month.
