Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored six times in 13 games since rejoining AC Milan in January

AC Milan striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has emerged as Swedish player of the year for the 12th time.

He took to his social media page to upload the picture of the award.

Due to his current impressive form, it has strongly been suggested that the 39-year-old wants to play at Euro 2020.

Ibrahimovic who suffered a hamstring injury during Milan’s 3-1 win over Napoli in the Serie A over the weekend said his injury is not serious as he
is only expected to be out for one or two weeks.

Ibrahimovic, who limped off after scoring twice against Napoli on Sunday is currently leading the Serie A scoring chart with ten goals.

“It’s nothing serious. Only one or two weeks [out],” Ibrahimovic said in an interview with Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.

The veteran recently hinted he is ready to end his international retirement by posting an image of himself in a Sweden jersey on his social media page and captioned: “Long time no see.”

Ibrahimovic must prove he wants to play for Sweden again

Reacting to the hint of the likely return of the veteran, Sweden head coach Janne Andersson said the former Barcelona and Manchester United man must prove he wants to play for his country again before he considers recalling him.

Ibrahimovic, who played for Sweden in Euros 2016 in an interview further suggested he is keen for a return to the international stage ahead of the delayed Euro 2020 next year.

“Yes, I miss the national team. It is no secret. I want to be in Friends Arena, I want it to be the Yellow Wall or what we now call it. You come out, you have the yellow shirt and you see that it is full… Do I miss it? Of course.

“If [Andersson] called me, I would answer. I would tell him to give me time. I have to think about it. But it has to come from him. If he thinks I’m too big, I’m not interested. If he believes I can bring something [to the group], then I would think about it.”

“The one who does not miss it – he has already ended his career. And I have not finished my career”, he added.

Speaking on retirement from football, the 39-year said he has not even considered when he might retire. The Swede has so far scored 20 goals in 24 Serie A matches since returning to the club in January.

“I’ll keep going as long as I can make a difference, otherwise it’s not fun.

“I have to feel alive. In any case, I will continue as long as possible. As Mino [Raiola, his agent] says: ‘squeeze the orange as long as you can,” he added.

After winning his 12th Sweden Player of the Year Award, Ibrahimovic said all he did was to train very well

“What I repeat all the time is that I train very hard. I prepare myself very, very well. In my athletic program I am very professional. I dedicate as much time as possible to physical fitness and it is mainly my head.”

Milan’s next Serie A action comes up on Sunday when they host Fiorentina at San Siro. Ibrahimovic is expected to be out of action due to a hamstring injury.
