Ibrahim Sangare of PSV Eindhoven has been listed as a potential summer signing by Liverpool.
The Reds are still in contention to win the Premier League and UEFA Champions League this season, having already won the EFL Cup and FA Cup. They have, however, been bolstering their ranks in preparation for the impending campaign.
Liverpool are likely to announce the acquisition of Fulham’s Fabio Carvalho soon. Jurgen Klopp’s side is also in talks with Aberdeen in Scotland about signing Calvin Ramsay, an 18-year-old right-back.
Liverpool are also rumored to be looking for a defensive midfielder, with AS Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni being a key target. However, the 22-year-old does not appear to be the only midfielder on the club’s radar. Liverpool have Sangare of PSV Eindhoven ‘firmly in their sights’. The Reds sent scouts to observe the 24-year-old play in the final stages of the season, according to reports.
PSV Eindhoven have been receiving bids for some of its high-profile players. Two of their players, Ibrahim Sangare and Cody Gakpo, have been linked with Premier League clubs and could leave the club.
With James Milner, Jordan Henderson, and Thiago Alcantara all in their 30s, Klopp’s team is looking to bolster their midfield options this summer. Sangare may thus be an excellent choice for them.
Incoming PSV Eindhoven coach Ruud van Nistelrooy wants to keep Sangare beyond the summer. The Ivory Coast international is under contract with the club until 2025.
However, his contract with the Eredivisie club has a €37.5 million release clause. Liverpool’s willingness to pay so much for the player remains to be seen. This summer, the Reds are said to be interested in signing Ibrahim Sangare. However, they are not the only club interested in signing him ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also interested in signing the 24-year-old. Recently, Leicester City have been linked with the player.
Sangare joined PSV Eindhoven from Toulouse in 2020 for around €9 million. Since then, he has been a regular for the Dutch top division club, appearing in 87 games in all competitions. This season, the Ivorian has appeared in 48 games for PSV Eindhoven in which he scored four goals.
