There are more developments emanating due to the emotional rollercoaster of Dele Alli, as his mother, Denise, has expressed that she has not stopped crying since watching his distressing interview.
Dele’s mother has also claimed that she didn’t know that the Everton midfielder had been sexually abused at the age of 6.
The former Spurs midfielder had an exclusive Interview with Gary Neville on The Overlap, released on July 13, 2023 and poured out his heart detailing various damaging experiences of his childhood.
Following the interview, Dele Alli has gotten support from all sections of the football world, with colleagues in the Premier League sending their message of support.
The midfielder’s biological mother, who goes by the name Denise, has now replied to the statements made by Dele, maintaining that she isn’t aware of such.
Denise Alli on the interview of her son, Dele
Denise said: “I have not been able to stop crying since I heard my son describe the abuse he suffered as a child. I had no idea he had been molested.”
Denise also expressed how she is heartbroken that someone she accommodated might have betrayed her trust.
Dele’s mother added: “I’m so sorry. It breaks my heart to think that someone I allowed into my house might have betrayed my trust in the worst possible way.”
Recall that the MK Dons academy graduate revealed that he had been raised by his foster parents, Alan and Sally Hickford, since he was at the age of 12.
Denise also stated how angry she felt that she no longer has any contact with her son, Dele Alli, but she hopes she will have the opportunity to “see him again”.
She said: “I cannot put into words how upset I am I no longer have contact with my son – and only hope I’ll have the chance to see him again.”
However, there has been contrary information also shared by the family concerning the revelations made by Dele Alli as they termed the majority of it as lies.
Contrary reports on the interview
Reports from an interview conducted by Nigerian journalist Ojora Babatunde, a family member of the midfielder claimed that the midfielder was never adopted.
The unnamed family member said: “Dele was never adopted by anyone. At age seven, Dele attended one of the best schools in Lagos, Nigeria.
“He was never sent to Africa for discipline. That’s a blatant lie. He had a driver that picked him daily from school.”
Additionally, the family member said that Dele Alli has been brainwashed as most of his statements are unfounded.
The family said: “We have all the documents and pictures of Dele with his dad from when he was born as a kid. Dele has been brainwashed.”
Denise also shared with the mirror in 2018 that Dele Alli’s apparent addiction to alcohol due to her unavailability was false.
She said: “It has been said that I was suffering from alcoholism and I gave him up because I couldn’t look after him, but that is a lie.
“I wanted to give him the best chance of achieving his dream, but he was still my son and I was there for him whenever he needed me.”
A family member of Dele Alli allegedly claims the midfielder’s mind was poisoned
Meanwhile, the family member claimed that Dele Alli’s foster parents, Alan and Sally Hickford, didn’t act in good faith.
“Kenny immediately called the Hickford’s resident and they pleaded with Kenny to allow Dele to spend the night with them, because they have a comfortable place and their son is good friends with Dele.”
Kehinde Alli, the father of Dele Alli reportedly agreed to the Hickford family’s request and that’s where things changed.
The unknown family member added: “Kenny agreed – not knowing the Hickford’s had a plan all along.
“Along the line, it now became an every Wednesday affair. That’s how they started grooming him (Dele) to whatever they are doing.”
Dele Alli, whose career has threaded downhill is currently participating in preseason with Everton in Switzerland.
He will be hoping to ignite his fire, by hitting the monstrous heights that he hit while at Tottenham Hotspur, which saw him included in the Premier League PFA Team of the Year twice.
The Englishman of Nigerian descent also won the PFA Young Player of the Year award on two occasions; 2015-16 and 2016-17.
Alli endured a disastrous loan spell at Besiktas last season, where he made 17 appearances scoring 3 goals and providing no assist.
