La Liga champions, Real Madrid have entered the race for Houssem Aouar.
This could be a setback for Arsenal. The Gunners were initially in the pole position to sign the creative midfielder, but with Galacticos in the scheme of things, Lyon might go for the highest bidder.
According to L’Équipe, Real Madrid boss, Zinedine Zidane very recently held talks with Aouar, who would be very motivated by the idea of turning out for Los Blancos.
The paper also reported that talks between Zidane and Aouar’s agents have taken place over a possible move for next summer as the Spanish side cannot currently afford to do any transfer owing to COVID-19 restrictions. With a lot of midfielders in their existing squad: Luka Modric, Federico Valverde, Isco, and Toni Kroos, Aouar might find it hard to nail a starting shirt.
Zidane is seeing a deal for Aouar as a real opportunity and he is not ready to let it slip, despite these realities.
Lyon had rejected an initial bid from Arsenal, who were seeking €60m for Aouar this summer.
Due to the existing market, Lyon owner, Jean-Michel Aulas has reconsidered the reality, and he has a good relationship with the Real Madrid board. This could lead to him being willing to make certain allowances.
Can Real Madrid do a loan deal for Aouar?
Owing to current financial situation, the idea of doing a loan with obligation to buy is a possibility for Lyon. For this to happen, the eventual fee must align with their desires.
Meanwhile, Arsenal offer is not concrete, but the Gunners are planning to increase the offer, having been after him for several weeks.
As Arsenal seemed to be a default option, but PSG’s approach initiated by Nasser Al-Khelaifi, is not really solid as the club is Aouar’s priority.
Juventus’ interest is touted to be real as well it seems very unfocused.
Having followed him for quite some time, Real Madrid’s interest could solve the problem. Zidane’s coaching staff were particularly convinced following his performances throughout the 2019/20 Champions’ League. He showed his mettle notably against Juventus, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich.
It will also be a dream come true for Auoar if he joins Real Madrid, playing under Zinedine Zidane.
