After recently returning to football action from a long injury layoff, Eden Hazard has tested positive for COVID-19 alongside his teammate, Casemiro.

They will now undergo a period of self-isolation. It means they are ruled out of Sunday’s trip to Valencia.

Real Madrid in a statement, said they were the only positive results after testing on Friday. The club has in that effect revealed the list of available players that will be traveling to Valencia, omitting the two.

“Real Madrid CF announces that our players Casemiro and Hazard have given positive results in the COVID-19 tests carried out yesterday Friday morning.

“All the other players and the coaching staff of the first team, as well as all the club employees who work directly with them, gave negative results in that same test carried out yesterday.

“Likewise, it is confirmed again that all, with the exception of Casemiro and Hazard, have given negative results in the antigen tests carried out this morning.”

Recently, defender Eder Militao was also ruled out after testing positive earlier this week.

It further means that Hazard, who had been named in the Belgium squad for their upcoming internationals, including against England on 15 November, is off the ties.

He created another scare for the Galacticos when he limped off after 65 minutes during Real’s 3-2 victory against Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday.

When will Hazard and Casemiro return from COVID-19 isolation?

The COVID-19 protocol is very clear in this aspect; they have to isolate for at least ten days.

Madrid won’t be missing them too much as international break begins next week.

So, Hazard and Casemiro are expected to stay behind in Spain to recover from the dreaded virus ahead of their next game after the international break – a trip to Villareal on November 21 and a trip to Milan to face Inter Milan in the Champions League three days later.

Hazard has so far scored one goal in three appearances this season, with two of them as a substitute. He opened his first goal of the campaign in his first start of the season last week against Huesca.

Casemiro on the other hand has played ten games so far scoring one and creating one assist.
