Harry Maguire was among the most criticized players throughout last season because of his constant poor performances for the Red Devils.

His performance was one of the reasons why Man United finished in the sixth position in the English Premier League, recording their worst-ever points tally in recent years.

The English international has also agreed to the fact that he has really disappointed the Man United supporters as he failed to live up to the required standard. However, he is ready to fight and prove his doubters wrong by helping Erik ten Hag’s team to challenge for trophies again.

While speaking during an interview with some journalists, Harry Maguire reacted to his performance last season by saying: “Last year was certainly a setback for myself on my career path but it’s behind us now. We look forward to the future and getting this club back to winning trophies, which is what it’s all about.

The Englishman added that last year was disappointing for him because he didn’t play well and also the club failed to perform well. He added that a good career can last for 10 to 15 years but they will always be difficult seasons.

So far, the team has started very well under the management of new manager Erik ten Hag after they won their first two preseason games.

Manchester United first played against Liverpool and thrashed them 4-0, followed by a 4-1 triumph over Melbourne Victory.

However, Harry Maguire didn’t play in the first pre-season game but was part of the squad in the second game and he did well at the back. According to him, the new manager is getting his style across to the players and the players are learning quickly.

He added that the squad morale is building at a fast speed as they wait for their first English Premier League games for the 2022/23 campaign against Brighton on August 7. The England international acknowledged that the process has been tough for them but they are still looking forward to the season.

Erik ten Hag will be getting ready to get the team back to winning ways and has shown that he’s the right man for the job through their pre-season performance. However, he’s still without their star player Cristiano Ronaldo who’s yet to return to duty.
