Harry Kane’s absence at Tottenham Hotspur since his post-Euro 2020 break ended on Monday, August 2, 2021, has continued to be a big issue of concern to the club’s coach, Nuno Espirito Santo.

Over the years, Kane has been the best player at the Premier League club, and every football manager that comes to the club always tries to build the team around the 27-year-old striker who is the club’s captain.

For Nuno Espirito who joined the club this summer after Wolves sacked him at the end of the 2020-2021 season, Harry Kane remains one of the most important players in his long-term plan for Spurs.

However, since he started his rebuilding process at the club, he was left with no choice but to find a way not to allow Harry Kane’s absence to disrupt his plans at the club.

The England international decided not to show up for pre-season training with the aim of frustrating Spurs to sell him off this summer.

Recall that he told the club in May 2021 that he intends to leave this summer to a more ambitious club where he could win titles. Towards the end of Euro 2020, Manchester City made a £100 million bid to Tottenham Hotspur for the services of Kane but the London-based club rejected the offer.

The club that is fighting to return to Champions League football and probably become a more consistent title contender is ready to try as much as they can to keep Harry Kane at the club beyond this summer.

Kane still has three seasons left on his contract with the Premier League club but that seems not to be a big deal to him as his priority is to leave the club to a more promising side in the Premier League which could be Manchester City.

After a pre-season friendly match between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur which ended 2-2 at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, Nuno Espirito admitted that he has not had the opportunity to talk to Kane about his absence.

“I expect to speak with Harry soon. I haven’t had the chance yet. We have to, first of all, solve the problems ourselves, then I will speak to you,” Nuno said.

“It’s not that I don’t want to comment, what I believe is all this issue about everything should be discussed internally, among us. Let’s try to avoid any kind of public argument or discussion about it. We have to focus on what is important, solve the situation, between us.

“We will solve the situation internally, with the club speaking and trying to reach a better solution and a conclusion to the situation.

“All of pre-season has been hard for every club. It’s different, I know, but the absence of a lot of players due to international duty has made it a hard time for a lot of managers.”

In his effort to improve Tottenham Hotspur’s squad ahead of the 2021-2022 season, the Portuguese coach said: “We are always working very hard, as you can imagine, on that aspect. We need it, but it’s very hard to improve our squad. We have very talented, very good players, it needs to be balanced, but Steve and Fabio don’t have easy work in terms of improving our squad. We have to be accurate and choose the right player.

“Our squad needs to be balanced, but it has to be with quality, something we don’t have, players we don’t have we have to be careful.”
