Harry Kane has stressed that he is not struggling in the ongoing Euro 2020 because of injuries or his desire to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The 27-year-old striker has been having a tough in the ongoing Euro 2020 despite playing in front of his home supporters at the Wembley Stadium in London.

So far in the tournament, the Tottenham Hotspur and England captain has played in England’s first two group games. Unfortunately for Harry Kane that won Premier League top goalscorer and assists provider in the just concluded 2020-2021 season, he has not made any impact in the tournament.

In his last two games in the tournament, Kane has not only failed to score a goal but has failed to provide any assist and record any shot on target so far in the tournament.

Due to how poor his form has been, England’s coach Gareth Southgate did not allow him to play the entire 90 minutes of the country’s two group games as he was substituted in the second half of the games.

The fact that Raheem Sterling scored a lone goal against Croatia in England’s first game of the tournament to earn the country their only victory so far, made football fans overlook the ineffectiveness of Harry Kane.

Unfortunately for him, England failed to score any goal in their second game which was against Scotland on Friday. Hence, football fans especially those from England have not allowed him to be as most of them believe that Kane’s ineffectiveness earned the country a goalless draw.

However, some football fans believe that Harry Kane has been struggling in the competition because he has not been getting enough support from other members of the team in terms of passing the ball to him at the right time.

While others believe that the fact that he intends to leave Tottenham Hotspur for a club where he can win major titles has affected his drive in the tournament. Or he might be managing an injury that has not allowed him to give his best to the team.

Recall that since he reportedly told Tottenham Hotspur that he desires to leave the club, some major clubs in the Premier League have reportedly shown interest in his services. The two clubs that have been more prominent in the speculation are Manchester City and Chelsea.

Kane however insisted that those are mere speculations in the media that do not have any negative impact on his performance in the ongoing Euro 2020.

“Absolutely not,” Kane insisted. “All my focus is on how I can help this team and how we can be successful in this tournament.

“I understand from a media point of view there is speculation but I am fully focused on the job here.”

On the decision of the head coach of England, Gareth Southgate to substitute him in the second half of the two games the team has played so far, Kane said: “Gareth is within his rights to make the changes he thinks are best for the team.

“What we’ve learned over past tournaments is about trying to peak at the right time. The best time to be peaking is in the knockout stages and hopefully, kick on from there.

“Maybe in Russia [2018 FIFA World Cup] there were times, towards the quarter and semi-final, when I wasn’t as sharp as I wanted to be. In the end, we didn’t get to where we wanted to go, maybe partly for that reason.

“It’s about managing the squad, making sure everyone is feeling as fit and sharp as possible. In my case, it was a tough couple of games and it’s about making sure I’m right for the rest of them.

“I didn’t have any issues. I didn’t feel physical I wasn’t up to it. I felt going into those games as good as I’ve felt all season if I’m honest.”
