Lionel Messi is a big absence from Harry Kane’s list of best eight attackers in football. The England skipper and former Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane seemed to have waded into the goat debate with a honest assessment of his best attackers in football with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, and fast-rising PSG star Kylian Mbappe making the list.

According to Metro Football, Harry Kane picked his list of the best eight based on eight key attributes for attackers which are movement, speed, heading, finishing, strength, dribbling, link-up play, and work rate.

Harry Kane Lionel Messi

Surprisingly, Lionel Messi did not fit into any of Harry Kane’s best attacking footballers based on the listed attributes.

Players who made it to Harry Kane’s list were Peter Crouch (for his headed goals), Didier Drogba (for his strength), Jude Bellingham (for his work rate), Wayne Rooney (for his link-up play), Kylian Mbappe (for his dribbling skills) and Cristiano Ronaldo ( for his speed).

While Messi is still regarded as the greatest or one of the greatest footballers to grace the game, he did not make it to Harry Kane’s list.

Lionel Messi has completed a total of 2358 dribbles, as per Opta since his breakout into elite talent. Hence, Kane’s list has raised eyebrows. Meanwhile, his inclusion of Cristiano Ronaldo is believed to be well-deserved as the Portuguese reached a landmark speed of 33.35km/h during 2018 World Cup.
