The matchup between Tottenham and Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday had the makings of one of the season’s pivotal games.

Pep Guardiola’s team had the perfect opportunity to cut the deficit to two points in north London after league leaders Arsenal suffered a shocking loss to Everton on Saturday, but Harry Kane said NO.

Although Spurs haven’t been playing at their best lately, they have previously shown they can defeat City, which made it an intriguing matchup.

Before the Sunday’s game, Arsenal had a chance to maintain a five-point advantage over the competition.

Mikel Arteta’s team, who have 50 points after 20 games, missed that opportunity as James Tarkowski’s header gave Everton the win.

Prior to their match with Tottenham, City had played 20 games, leaving the Gunners with a game in hand.

Manchester City have not had a good experience on their prior travels to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Guardiola’s team losing all four previous encounters without scoring.

On the edge of their own box, City played themselves into danger, and Hojbjerg did an excellent job of stealing the ball.

To Kane, who was unmarked in the box, the Dane tailored it.

Despite a slightly imperfect finish, Kane did more than enough to beat Ederson.

Harry Kane, Spurs’ all-time leading scorer in the club history, has now scored 267 goals in all competitions for Spurs.

The England captain has also scored a record 200 goals in the Premier League.

Spurs maintained their position despite the visitors having a significant amount of possession.

Romero fell from the tightrope – Jack Grealish was taken out by the Argentine as City launched an assault. The tackle forced the referee to show the World-Cup-winner a red card in the 87th minute.

Kulusevski was replaced right away by Davinson Sanchez after the red card, and the 10-men were able to hold on to the very end.
