The former Brighton manager, who took over for Thomas Tuchel in September, has been under increasing pressure.

His team has only won two of their last 13 league games since October, and the Champions League is their only chance to win a trophy.

After a 1-1 draw with West Ham on Saturday, the Blues are now ninth in the standings and ten points behind the top four.

Even if the team doesn’t make the Champions League the following season, the new Chelsea board, led by Todd Boehly, reportedly won’t fire Potter this year, according to The Athletic.

The Stamford Bridge leadership is aware that it will take time for Potter to get the most out of the team because he joined during the current campaign together with many new players.

Boehly and the directors agree to give Potter the time he needs to build and reshape the team in the way he sees fit since they understand that the Potter project is a long-term goal.

He accomplished that so well at Brighton, whilst Mikel Arteta has benefited from being trusted through a challenging time at Arsenal.

Chelsea now see a similar strategy in West London, with Potter as the manager for years rather than months.

The Blues’ team, which included record-breaking signing Enzo Fernandez, has seven new players from the January transfer window.

Chelsea’s management is aware that they won’t click right away, but that giving Potter time to work with them is the greatest strategy for success in the long run, even if it frustrates fans now.

Marc Cucurella was booed off the field at the London Stadium on Saturday after the crowd became very upset with his performance.

Joe Cole even criticized Potter for remaining silent when the referees denied Chelsea a late penalty because Tomas Soucek handled the ball in the area.

Graham Stephen Potter, a professional football manager and former player from England, was born on May 20, 1975. He is now Chelsea’s head coach in the Premier League.

Left-back Potter had a 13-year playing career and made 307 Football League matches.

He also played for Southampton in the Premier League and Shrewsbury Town in the Football Conference.

At the under-21 level, he received one international cap for England.

With the Swedish team stersund, Potter launched his professional managing career in January 2011. With stersund, he earned three promotions and the Svenska Cupen, helping them advance to the 2017–18 UEFA Europa League knockout round.

In June 2018, he was named manager of Championship team Swansea City. A year later, he moved on to coach Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion. He was appointed Chelsea’s head coach in 2022.

    Potter Since Joining Chelsea

Thomas Tuchel was replaced as Chelsea’s head coach on September 8, 2022, when Potter was named to a five-year contract.

Six days after making his debut, the group stage Champions League match at home between the squad and Red Bull Salzburg ended in a 1-1 draw.

In his second game in command, on October 1, Potter defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 away from home by coming from behind to win his first Chelsea match.

Conor Gallagher, a Chelsea graduate, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both scored their first goals for the team in the 90th minute.

His first defeat occurred on October 29 in his tenth game, a crushing 4-1 away loss on his maiden visit back to his former team Brighton.

Due to the team’s previous bad results and performances, Potter came under a lot of fire from the fans and the media after Chelsea’s FA Cup third-round departure for the first time since 1999 following a 4-0 loss to Manchester City.
